I am a cheap ass bastard, let it be know. Now, I got a badass deal on some weaksauce rims with sexy tires. I got some 225/40/18 Toyo Proxies4. They had like 1000 miles on em, they are brand freakin new basically. I paid about $600 for everthing. How long will they last? Tread is very deep right now, I myself have used them for about 600 miles. I've always been under the impression that performance tires dont last as long as some regular 14" steelie's tires. True? How many miles should they last? These are some squishy material tires, why? They feel soft, unlike any tires i've had before (kumho 712's)

UTQG isnt really a good factor in measuring treadlife. Theres many factors involved such as alignment, driving style, etc. My alignment was off on a 280 rating and i went through tires in about 4000 miles. Heres an anecdote on the treadwear rating-

I've had Toyos for about 2 1/2 years now, with really bad camber and no alignment at all. They didn't really wear out to the point of replacement until about 6 months ago. Keep in mind this is a daily driver, so go for it IMO.

The sidewall of the tire , in small text somewhere, should be the treadwear rating. The rating on mine is 300 I believe, and I recall being told that means they will 'burn' 3x slower than a 'normal' tire...
Most performance tires last quite some time. I had Motegi MR7's on my first Eclipse....drove on them for a year...then transferred them once I got my current Eclipse and drove on them for another year or so....then sold them still with decent tread.
I had those tires on my 5th set of rims, my 19" ADR Fuels, I drove on those for about 5 months...I never noticed and treadloss really worth mentioning.
Keep in mind I have all my camber corected and in spec, and I don't do burnouts or drive extremely aggressively every day....although I do get on it and break them loose weekly.

My toyo proxies t1s tires lasted a year. When i first got them they gripped great but after a while they lost it until I was driving back from school one day in the rain and noticed if I gave it more than half throttle in any gear they'd just spin. You have a different tire tho and the treadwear rating looks pretty good so maybe they'll last ya longer
