#26348, "DAAAAAH! OUTER TIE ROD BROKE! NEED HELP!"

My brother was driving his talon down the neighbors alley(which happens to be unpaved) in his 1G TSi AWD when he comes home and tells me that he cant turn his front passenger wheel, and it turns like shit making a left. I diagnose tie rod. yup. the outer tie rod is hanging off...like its peeking behind the wheel. I just looked behind the wheel and it was right there. It looked broken off..should I order anything else other than just the outer tie rod? Help would be much appreciated, dont have time to do a search...thanks in advance to my fellow 2gnt'ers.

If it's broke you may have one hell of a time getting whats left off of the inner tie rod. I'd order a new inner tie rod too.

:brokeoff Sorry, I couldn't resist.

Basically, replace the tie rod, $10-20 at local autoparts store.
You may find the tie rod ends are dead or worn, those are about $20-30.

Here's a good link- http://forums.2gnt.com/dcboard.php?az=show_topic&forum=6&topic_id=21757&mesg_id=21757&listing_type=search
