#26268, "I'm an idiot. Question about my nuts....and strut towers"

Ok i'm a moron. I unscrewed the nuts to my strut tower bar while working on the car a few days ago, and just realized I never put them back on. The apartment maintanence, much to my surprise, actually cleaned outside my place (1st time in months, bastards) and tossed my nuts (the 3 to the strut tower bar).

I'm goign to go to a hardware store to replace them, but is there any specific grade I need? I'm in the dark when it comes to that.

ALso, is it ok to drive the car wihtout these on? Is my alignment fuxored?

thanks!
matt

1. i would get some grade 8 nuts just to be safe.

2. i would not drive on them since your struts when you hit a bump are going to be smacking around. although the car should weigh it down enough to make it from point a to b, you never really know.
just get some new nuts to be safe, i mean its going to cost you about 20 cents a nut, why risk anything?

good luck on getting new nuts though, i hate having to get my tossed out like that, lol

Ok I got the nuts finally. To save everyone else a headache the strut tower nuts are 10mm X 1.25 . Call around before you go, most hardware stores don't carry metric nuts, esp. in a grade 8 or higher...took me friggin' 2 hours today to find them.
