do u guys with shocks springs and strut braces notice a gain in launch ? my friend and i used to run on par but since he lowered his ride now he pulls on me and i used to pull on him when we were both stock ..now he has the complete suspension work done and he pulls on me ? !! ? im still stock .. I think a lot to do with placing the power of the car (as well as the weight) closer to the ground. Sometimes you hear a lot of that talk between the really serious drag racers about where the weight is placed in the car. Well, it's more than just in the front or the back, but also the height.
I also like to equate it similarily to the track runners who lowering their bodies to get in their starting blocks. A lot of different physics between cars and people, but some principles are the same...ala less wasted energy and more effective use of all that weight compacted in a smaller area creating more MOMENTUM!!!

Suspension makes a HUGE difference on launching.
With ONLY my front end lowered with H&R springs (the back still had stock springs on) I ran a 2.13 60ft time.
Previously my best 60ft was in the vincinity of 2.2.
Now this may sound very trivial, but believe me a 0.1 change in 60ft time worth about a car length at the end of the 1/4 mile.
Also the Front Strut bar gives you better grip on takeoff and thus you get less wheelspin. Some people take the bar off when they dragrace, but the gain in grip is worth keeping it.
Other mods you can have is adjustable shocks. Keep the back ones as stiff as possible and the front ones as soft as possible.
Remember.. it's all about keeping as little weight transfer from happening during takeoff.
