Almost everytime I accelerate and sometimes when I decelerate I hear and feel a POP noise in the right front end and feel it in steering wheel.
I had the balljoint recall done last week and had axles check and engine mounts they say they are all good? What the hell could it be? IT's weird though I told the mechanic I think axles causae I can rotate wheel quite a bit w/ it in gear, he said that is the way they are?
Oh then he tried to say my right gear hub was bad but when I said show me he was trying to get the wheel to move up and down he cpuldn't show me so I guess he was trying to get $300+ out of me for the recall lmao. Any assistance would be appreciated from a fellow DSM'r

What balljoints did you have replaced?/ The clunken noise could be comming from the wishbone looking are called the suppression are....I had the same issue you have . I have the recal done but the recall don't c0over the suppression arm. That most likley is your issue

doubt it, Ive had the same prob for a long time. IT comes and it goes, thats the weird part. IT will do it for 1-1.5 weeks straight then disappear for months at a time.

Ive run through the suspension twice, and nothing.

hmm, I'm working on my front right clunk right now. I was hoping to find some quick answers, but I think I'm actually going to have to work to find out what it is. I just replaced the compression arm and the upper arm assy's, but they were from the low mileage car in the junkyard, so who knows they could be bad too, dunno. I did not replace the lateral lower arm, I'm going to replace it and see what gives. I'll post again when I figure it out, might be able to give some helpfull tips when I am done

and if not, then there is always his option

Thanks I will check the suppresion out. How can you tell if it is worn though? I also was reading in the service book it said could be the trans. the pinoin gear or something hell I hope not thats probally a good bit to rebuild.

well, I spent a few hours taking stuff apart and experimenting with ways of reproducing the clunking sound. my step-father(old school hot rodder guy) suggested I jack up the car a little and use a 2X4 under the wheel to make it move up and down, if it clunks, it's a ball joint. the problem we have with that test is that we have three different ball joints on or suspensions, good test, but the results aren't very specific, on top of that, my junk didn't clunk. so what then? I just started taking stuff apart and moving stuff around. I found that the ball joint on the compression(not supression) arm or AKA radius arm, to be bad, it was a junkyard part so I'm not too terribly surprised. I think the reason why I could not reproduce the noise was because it would only do it when the wheel was pushed front to back, and not necesarrily up and down which would be the lateral arm ball joint. so if you are clunking during acceleration and probably deceleration as well, it is most likely the compression arm. by the way if this is bad on your car, look around for a good used one from a junkyard, the local mitsu dealer here in VA wants $300 each and the chrysler dealer wants $175 a peice for these stupid things. hope this is of some help to somebody
