#25544, "Rear TSI/GSX 95 disk ARE different."

I purchased some slotted/drilled rotors and found that when I went to put on my new rotors they were aprox .5in smaller in dia, and not vented. Needless to say, they are not going to fit.
I did not realize it but my rear rotors are larger than my fronts...I pulled my rears from a 95 tsi AWD.Anyone else come accross this?

This is taken from MachV.com's site:

One final note: In the very early product months of the 1995 model year AWD Eclipse and Talons, the cars came with VENTED rear rotors.

Not all AWD rear brakes are identical across the Second Generation.

I knew that the early models came vented, but mine are also a different dia. That was my point, so you guys doing the rear disk changeover be warned. I went to install the new rotors, and there is about 1/2 inch of pad that does not even touch the surface area, not to mention about 1 inch of space between the pad and the rotor.
I contaced the people I got them from and they have no problem trading me for the larger disks.

I was not just saying the difference was vented and non vented. The diameter is different, like you said, and therefore requires different pads if using those rare-equipped vehicles.

Those cars do have their own brake pad part number for the rear.

Yes, it looks as they use the same caliper, but a different shim on the pad itself, odd that the rears pads are about 12$ more than the fronts. I just ordered PBR Ceramic's, and will be putting them on saturday.

same with drums. i have an early 95 and getting drum parts is a PITA. it's listed under 94 eclipse. completely different sized shoes and the cylinders are mounted upside-down. it's such a bitch when you have your car jacked up and your brakes completely disassembled and you find out the parts don't fit. emoji
