#24891, "Need Help ASAP! Removing struts and the locking nut on the strut assembly won't come off!!!!"
I've taken both of the rear strut/spring assembly's off the rear of my car and on both of them the nut won't come off the top so I can swap the struts with my new Tokico blues. I'm following Corbin's writeup here: http://www.2gnt.com/www/corbin/struts.html
I'm at the part where you use the vice grips to grip the top part of the strut and use a 17mm wrench to remove the nut. I've turned the nut a hundred times and it's not coming off. It's turning and the strut's staying in place but the nuts just not coming up.
I've tried it with both sides and the same thing. Please help, I need my car tomorrow and I don't want to have to put the old struts back on!!!

The stut rods not spinning and the nuts still not coming off?Sounds like its stripped. If you don't need your old struts you could cut the strut rod with a recip saw,Compress the sping far enough and cut it right under the nut, BUT BE CAREFUL.

if your just tossing your old struts put some vise grips on the shaft and use an impact on the nut
or if you just use an impact, you might not even need the vise grips
