This is just a head's up if anyone's looking for a good jack. I just bought a 1.5 ton aluminum racing jack for $105 at Sams Club. It's got a 3.5" clearance which is just enough to fit under my front bumper. It seems to be pretty good quality too. Sweet.

At 1.5 tons I wouldn't try and lift a truck but I'm pretty sure it's safe for most cars.
I lifted the front end of my 3000 lb car yesterday without any problem. It seems pretty sturdy, but I wouldn't work under my car with just a jack anyway, I got jackstands for that.
