#24366, "my old 14's vs my 17's at the track"

last time i was at the track i ran my 14's that have on the stocker rubber (which is basically worn down to almost no tread ) when i launched i got bad wheel hop and basically along with my smushy suspension blew my rubber inserts in my motor mounts and the actual trans mount needs to be replaced ... now i usually ride on my 17's they are light weight racing hart c5 knock offs .. the katanas .. their weight isnt to bad but the tires are much better .. i have on the kumho ecstas ... now would running the bigger wider tires help with my launch .. i get no wheel hop out of these tires/rim setup and i feel like i get a better launch ...so what im asking is this a wise thing .. running the bigger wider wheels as opposed to the skinny stockers ..

opinions pls

well more contact with the road will always give you a better launch
so yes a wider tire will give you a better launch than with the skinny tire

I would get some wider than stock tires for the 14's and run them at a lower than normal pressure to get a good launch.

also i believe stock suspension which you have, will add to bad wheel hop.
