I know this 9is an extremely common problem with these cars, but I just wanna hear from people who have successfully done the GSX conversion. I have pretty much made up my mind it is the way go and soon. Are all the bad things with stock breaks fixed? Like vibration and fade? And what's the difference in replacement pads for these versus stock pads? Thanks everyone.

I replaced my stock rotors with slotted/dimple drilled rotors from raceconcepts.net and SS brake lines and new fluid, that was over a year ago and I dont have any problems with my brakes at all. I can stop on a dime too .

IMO the GSX upgrade is a little over rated. true our cars are heavy as hell and need a good braking system but IMO just replacing rotors/pads to non-oem units helped a ton

agreed...to an extent. The more horsepower you have, the better your breaks have to be. You can have too much power for your brakes. Most doing the gsx conversion don't neccessarily have to, but i bet stock gsx vs. upgraded OEM are damn near the same on our cars. And for hte price of a used gsx setup compared to upgrading everything...its a damn good investment...since you can upgrade afterwards if you need to.

overkill...plus wouldn't all the friction cause a heat overload....i am sure you would be warping rotors like no other.

hows it any different than a 4 or 6 piston?

they would kick ass with some brembos on there and some dank pads not to mention people would be like uh...whoa

you've never seen vee dubs with two different calipers on one rotor?

even the stock single piston AND a gsx caliper would be insane. just get a different proportioning valve for the other calipers

i'm doin it

I didn't have any problems with my stock brakes. I got no vibration out of them, you should try engine braking. The only reason I did the GSX conversion is because I could fade them after a really hard run down a mountain, and that's asking a lot out of them.

anyway I had stock rotors with metal master pads. If your not turbocharged I say just upgrade you existing brakes. unless you want to spend the extra money emoji

hey you guys neglected to realize that a 4 or 6 piston brake only acts on 1 set of pads. If you add another caliper then you have 2 sets of pads for each disk, 4 pads = more friction then 2 pads given the same amount of force applied. It doesen't matter how many pistons you have. also, you would need a larger master to run the extra calipers. the proportioning valve will not correct a lack of fluid volume in the brake system. You could run 2 pound residual pressure valves on the extra calipers but the pedal will still need to travel alot to be able to close all those pistons. BUT, if you did the research and obtained some calipers with the correct piston area, then you could theoretically add the extra calipers.

well the different proportioning valve would be so that at a certain % of brake pedal only the singles would clamp and at a harder brake pressure the duals would start clamping. this would also be on some bigger size rotors mind you, not the stock 2gnt rotors (blah)

im going to have a talk with a brake tech at sound performance this weekend and see what we can do about the pressure aspect of running more calipers. im thinking the 3kgt master cylinder would work (vr4) but at this point this is just an idea, i'm going to persue it and if at any point clicks that it will work, i'm doing it.
