I was told that my rack and pinion is lacking....... But, it is leaking slow..... Do I need to fix it soon?
I did some researches online..... most of them are selling remanufactured steering rack... Do you guys know any places to get brand new (not remanufactured) steering rack?

I know non-refurb oem racks don't exist.
Refurb is fine.
You might want to try Lucas power steering leak stop before you buy a new rack and pinion, it's garuanteed and only $4. Haven't tried it myself, but was looking at it at NAPA. If it doesn't work take the bottle back.

lacking or leaking?? Look under your car to see if you can find any leaking. I call BS...look for puddles under your car. Is your stearing any different then it was a lil while ago??

power steering fluid resevoir is right behind your coolant overflow. Go to autozone and grab some power steering fluid...I forget, specifically, which kind to get...i believe it will tell you on the bottle if its good for mitsu. Check your owners manual for that info.

EXCELLENT!!!!! thanks a lot man! I have one more question!
The Firestone guys told me that my Rack and Pinion is leaking...... do I need to replace? or just refill to make the power steering fuild may work well? or eventually I have to fix that in a week or two??
The fluid is reaching the min now..... any procedure to refill the power steering fluid? simply add it into the black reservior? I guess mine is on the right hand side... (ECLIPSE 97 GST)

Just fill it up with some new fluid for now. Check it in a few days and see if it is low again. Park in places so you can check for fluid leaks after you pull out (overnight).
I wouldn't trust anyone from Firestone that said I had a leak just because the reservoir was low.

ditto IMO...i generally don't trust mechanics unless i know them...they are after your money. Fill er up and check for leaks...even move the steering wheel around and listen (or have someone look) to see if it only leaks under pressure. I have a leak, but only when i turn.

If the steering is "lacking" meaning it takes a while for the car to respond when you turn the wheel, then it means that power steering fluid is low. If it's leaking, check to see where the leak is coming from, it's red. If it's coming from the rack and pinion it could mean the seals are blown. If it's coming elsewhere it could be a punctured hose or something.
