Goddamnit... theres nothing that pisses me off more than annoying sounds which I cant find the origin of. My motor could blow right now and I'd be less pissed. Just when I'm cruising along not hitting exceptionally bad bumps/inconsistencies in the road, I get a loud SQUAAAAAA from the right rear of my car. Could either be rubber on metal or metal on metal, I can't tell.

It does NOT happen when I hit large bumps or potholes. Isn't affected by speed or turning.

When I push down on the car on either rear corner, the car springs back up just like it always has (a common test for bad shock...) no unusual sounds during that process. I've tried wd40'ing the hatch latch, hatch shocks, strut brace joints.. The next thing I guess I'll try is removing sub/amp/tool bag/strut brace to see if it goes away...

What is it, most likely? I'm going to push on the gas tank + see if it moves at all....

ok after driving home from work i think it only happens when the body has any reason to flex/"move"... my tires arent rubbing, everything LOOKS and FEELS okay with the rear suspension... gas tank is solid

so if i take a turn with any kind of bank on it, I get the squeak. if i go in a straight line and get a decent bump, it squeaks.

antenna mount is solid.

hmm what else... theres no spare or anything in the back of the car, just like i said tool bag/sub/amp that arent secured/kept down in any way.

Sounds like the spring mount bushing on the upper perch. That likes to fall apart and squeek something aweful. Need to take the suspension apart to get to it, though.

I'd replace them all. The rears aren't too bad, just need a spring compressor. I can get the rear suspension out of a 2G in about 15 minutes when the jack works right. Right, Todd?

werd....rear suspension is a snap...i took my time and replaced my struts and springs in about 45 mins.

The front is pretty easy as long as all teh bolts come off no prob. The tie rod end links are my weakness on that front...right bill?? emoji
