well i just got my 18 x 8s and while they were mounting the tires, at a shop that will remain nameless unless this turns out bad, they dropped one of them off of the mounting equipment. It landed slap on its face on the concrete. scratched the wheels prety bad and pretty much took all of the clear coat off of the edge of the lip. I got most of the scratches out myself, but the polished lip has started to turn white where the clearcoat came off. Well i took it back to them and did some complaining. They finally agreed to send it out to be refinished. they hasseled about it since i didnt buy the wheels from them.
now on to my question... They gave me a loaner wheel to run until mine comes back. My wheels are 18 X 8 with a 38mm offset. the wheel they gave me is a 18 x 7 with a 42mm offset. My tires are 225/40ZR18. Is it gonna hurt anything running the 1 wheels for a week or 2 while my other wheel is being repaired. You can definatly tell a difference in the way to tires mount on the wheel. Theres no difference in the ride or the way it drives.
So am i good or should i throw my factorys back on until i get my matching wheel back?

You should be all set. I don't see any trouble unless runing different sizes like 17, 16's or anything else but 18' should be fine. It don't matter that it's widder.

yes deffinitly mount the rim in the rear for safe keeping. I had a mustang come to me in the shop on time that blew up the rear end fom the same thing. One side had 255's on it and the other was a 245. if both tires are the same size then you are ok, if you have a 255/50zr16 on one side and a 245/50zr16 then the tires have a different circumferance which causes both axles to move at different speeds. now on side roads this is not so much an issue but on the highway....oh lookout here comes your diff. lol
The mustang rear i rebuilt threw the diff pin and spider gears out of the carrier and through the front portion of the casing. hence it was off to the junk yard to find parts for that customer.

kinda off topic but thats shitty that they're hasseling you about it. i'm a tire tech at belle tire, and if i would've dropped your wheel, i would've had to pay for a replacement, not a refinishing.

well they still have it... been 2 weeks now. the shop repaintin it cant get the rivets out so he said he may have to paint them... i was like ummmm no cause then it wont match the rest of them. So if i dont get it back by next tuesday (which makes 3 weeks) im gonna ask them to replace it.
Now i have another one that the clear has started to peal off around the polished lip... its startin to piss me off. I was gonna get it replainted and go ahead and have them painted black, but it sounds like its a big pain in the ass and the shop is charging them 175 to refinish it...
What to do... what to do?
