Can someone post a pic or two of this tire/wheel combo? I found a pretty decent package deal but I'm thinking the tire may be a little too small to fill in the fender well the way I'd like. TIA

I am running 215/45-17's on my 97 Talon at stock height. They are only 0.2" away from stock rolling diameter (Had 195/70-14's). The 205/40's will be just fine... would post a pic but still haven't quite figued out how to do that yet! Sorry!

Man, that is WAY too small. Besides, don't go to the trouble of buying new tires and rims and have it done all wrong.

In any case, being FWD, I would always try and maximize the width of your tires at all costs. It's going to get you better traction for handling and launching.

205/40 is for honda's or something similar. Don't make your eclipse look like a little girl's car. Besides that, I try and cut costs all the time. But I never compromise the integrity of it and I try and make good value/cost evaluations.

Never spend $80 on a POS, when you can spend $100 and get something good. But don't spend $250, when you can get the same $100 item that's just as good.

What you're referring to is a bad buy. In fact, it's worse than stock, since the tire ratio will screw with your car's speedometer and handling characteristics.

I thought that size sounded pretty small. They dont offer anything bigger, and a friend of mine suggested the 245/55 or something like that.

If you want inexpensive then at least pick up some 225/50 rubber on 16X8in rim

I definitely want the 17" Enkei RSF2 or RS6, and the people at the local tire discounter think the 225 45 17 would be the best choice. They offer some all-season Yokohoamas in that size for just over 100 each. How about that?

Yea that sounds good. I have 215/45/17 and their great. Just enough to almost kill the entire wheelgap on Eibach springs. Id say go for that size imo.

Keep in mind that as a FWD you do want to maximize tire width for traction but also remember that what is good for drag racing is not the best for street/handling. I run 205/50s on a 16x7. Anything wider than 205 on a 7" width causes the sidewall to flex in so the bead can seat and lowers cornering ability. On the flip side 205 on a 7.5" is getting too thin as the rim itself is wider than the tire. Ask yourself what you are going to be doing the most of and then go from there.

And whoever told you to run 245/55 on a DSM better have an interesting rim side with correct backspacing for that size, otherwise have fun with fitment issues.

Couldn't agree more! 225/45/17's would be good if you have an 8" rim and the correct offset. As said earlier, fitment can become an issue quickly! Look at what you want out of the tire and the way you will drive it. then look at all you have for options! That way you make an informed decision about what to buy. Good Luck!
