#22022, "GSX Brakes on an RS"

I bought the GSX brakes for my 96 RS. The shop says they bolt up fine. However the wheel will NOT turn. Apparently the rotor is to thick or the Caliper is to big.

I have 16" OZ F1 rims.

Any suggestions?

you need GSX rotors for the GSX calipers to fit. They won't work on stock rs/gs/gst rotors

Yeah, I am using stock GSX Rotors, bought them at the same time as the calipers...

Did you get the mounting brackets for the gsx calipers? They are needed to space the caliper out correctly, otherwise your caliper will sit right on top of your rotor

The brackets should have been included with the calipers otherwise they wouldn't have been able to mount them at all. Were they new? or used?
if used i bet you have a seized caliper and will need to buy a rebuild kit. otherwise you have some dumb mechanics because there isnt much to it. If the pads are locked on to the rotor then how did they get them on there? take a c clamp and slowly push the piston into the body of the caliper. mount the new pads, then mount the caliper onto the spindle/axle. Its not too hard. Bleed the brakes and it should work fine. There is no way they wont fit under a 16" wheel.

if you have any questions reference my install here:

P.S.- this is why i do things myself- you know exactly what is going on and how things work!!

Yes, the brackets were included, as they are new units. the pistons were already compressesd into the body. The pads were supposed to be clamped in, but weren't. I'd think that wouldn't be a problem clamping them back in.

I'd have no problem doing it myself, it looks fairly easy. My only question is in bleeding the lines. How exactly is that done? I see the valve for it..but what do I do?

Thansk for the help

get some speed bleeder valves and install them into your caliper. to bleed them you open the speed bleeder (it allows fluid out but no air in so you can bleed them by yourself) and pump your brake pedal. make sure you watch your master cylinder though so that you don't pump air into the line.

No. apparently the pads are so close to the rotor that it wont allow the wheel to spin...So I Can't install them.

Something is not set up right then. If you have GSX calipers, brackets, rotors and pads, the it should work fine and not bind.

If you do not want them anymore I will take the package off your hands =]
