#21194, "Just did drum to rear disc conv and boy was it easy"

My friend came down from nashville yesterday to help me convert my drums to discs. The writeup on here says its a 4 hr mod. NO WAY we did this with about an hr of actual work time. I also noticed the writeup said something about cutting the carpet to get to the ebrake cables which all you have to do is pull the carpet up a little. I'll prepare another write-up with the pictures I took yesterday and post a link to it when i get it done. But yeah, this is a great mod that doesnt take long at all to do. emoji
Thanks to Dave41079 for the help

Kick ass! I've been wanting to do the rear disc conversion but I'm always scared off by the possible "shit here's another bolt I can't get off... oops, stripped" scenario that seems to be all too common for me emoji

Did you get your parts new or at a junkyard, how much did it cost, and what pieces did you need?

Keep up the good work emoji

The only part you might have problems with if you have a rounding off problem like i do is the hard brakeline where it connects to the rubber brake hose. I got the parts from this junkyard with a ton of wrecked eclipses. They only had 2 clipses with rear discs that i know of and another guy has already paid me for the other set. What you need is the calipers, rotors, pads, brakelines and hubs with the ebrake lines. I plan on doing stainless steel brakelines but didnt have enough time to order them yet as i was itchin to get this done. I hope the writeup helps, when i get it done, until then the one that is on the main page of this site will give you an idea of what is involved.

So I am confused on one issue with this conversion. Does this leave you with just discs in the bake or is it drum in discs? I have seen disc kits that look like only discs. I was just curious, becuase i am planning this conversion and would like more information on the final results. Can you feel a big difference in teh braking now?

Thanks,
antgriff

buy the right tool, its called a line wrench, the last thing you want to do it strip out brake line fittings
