For all of you out there who have installed the rear upper knuckle bushing from Energy Suspension, I have a question for you. I removed the upper control arm, as per the ES directions(which are vague at best), and scooped out the metal roller and pieces of my worn bushing. There is still rubber in there that is stuck to the metal. That is where my problem is. Am I supposed to scrape the rubber that was left, off, or remove the ring from the knuckle itself? On the knuckle it looks like there is a ring that housed the bushing, but I can't tell if is removes or not. I hit it a few times with a hammer, but couldn't tell if it moved. The ES directions make no mention of anything, but they do say that I will need a hydraulic press to remove the old bushing and roller, but they came right out(my knuckle bushing was THAT worn). Anyone who can shed light on this?

Yes, there is a metal ring around the stock bushing itself. That also needs to be removed. Its a PITA unless you have access to a press.

Can you buy just the rear knuckle bushings? Mine are shot on both sides of my car now.

I don't think you can. You can either buy the Rear Upper Control Arm Bushing kit(~60 bucks) or the Master Bushing kit(~120) for our cars.

I had the same thing happen to my car, and yes there is a metal sleave that needs to be removed. What I did was remove all my pieces and then dropped them off at the shop, they only charged me I think an hour of labour ($50) to press out the old bushings and replace them with the ES kit.

Well i haven't seen the full kit for $120 but i know road race carries it for $160 i believe. It's a Pain in the ass to install everything so be forwarned. You'll literally tear every suspension component on your car off as well as take apart the strut assemblies and shifter plate to install all the bushings that come in the kit.

Has the master kit for a little over 120. Drill the center roller until it gets so hot that it melts the rubber. Push the roller out and the you just have the sleeve to get through. The method I used to get the sleeves out was to hacksaw them. If you hacksaw them in 2 places(about a 1/2 inch from each other), and then peel the metal back with a hammer and a screwdriver, the pressure is relieved on the sleeve and it will come out easily. I did the rear upper control arm, upper knuckle and trailing arm using this method.
