hey guys my cars been shuddering when i brake. i think it's been getting gradually more noticable.. i've had the AEM GSX rotors for like 9 months now i think... you think they're warped? that would suck. oh yea how long're metal master pads supposed to last? they're startin to squeal now too. had them just since i did the brake swap... is that a normal life span for pads?

i love the gsx upgrade but don't wanna keep replacing stuff.

Hmmmmm...shuddering is usually the rotors. Don't know what else it would be. I heard AEM rotors go kinda fast though. Oh well...9 months is pretty quick for anything to warp unless you race on it all the time.

check your calipers to see if maybe they are sticking, that seems like a very short life span for those pads. If they are sticking, that could possibly cause the shuddering problem. I was getting the same thing until I swapped my front pads the other day and noticed that one of the calipers was almost seized to the rotor :o After greasing the hell out of the caliper pins it seems to work a lot better.

I can almost certainly guarantee you that the rotors are not warped. They may have some uneven pad deposits or something of the like, but they are probably not warped. Check out this article...

Well, Bill knows my opinon of the late Carol Smith (and where I get my information from, but we won't go into that whole mess right now ) but I think your shuddering is defenitely being caused by the rotors.

Even if they are not warped, you'd stil need to turn them to get rid of the pad deposits.

Your best best is to upgrade to powerstop or powerslot rotors. Most people tend not to have any problems after going with one of those rotors.

bleah so what's the easiest way to check? take it to a brake shop an have em check stuff out? or is there a way to check if rotors yourself? i really hope it's not the rotors.. that's pretty disappointing for performance rotors.. haha i love the look of my AEM 12.5" x-drilled/slotted rotors but if they're gonna warp..

If you bring the car into any brake shop, they'll be able to determine the problem.

what size do powerslot/powerstop rotors come in? is it jsut the standard GSX rotor size?
if i end up going with different rotors you guys think i should go with somethin smaller (stock gsx size) so i can fit some smaller rims for tracks? with the 12.5" AEM's i can't use anything smaller than a 17" rim.. kinda sucks that i have my 14 stockers that i can't use... what's the smallest rims that fit with GSX rotors? 16"? hmm... haha i think i would miss how the AEM's fill up my 17's though...
