this is to any 2g DSM owner....can the EVO 4-7 braked be put on a 2g eclipse????? the reason i ask is because i can get em hella cheap and i know they gotta be better than what i got...anybody know or have done this?????? tks

well if the 2G AWD calipers fit our cars, and since the Evo shares the sames trany and engine as the 2G's i am pretty sure it would fit.

Well, it may share motors, but to say that they therefore share brakes is somewhat shortsighted. The suspension design of the Evo is far different from that of the 2G. Thay may still fit, but since the hub is a different part, the bracket probably won't. Only one way to find out, though.

i guess...i'm going to have them shipped in from japan...EVO VII brakes...i believe they come with stock 4 piston calipers...not sure if the are brembo or not...we'll see i guess....my only worry there is getting replacements later....having stuff shipped from japan takes awhile and i don't wanna have my car down because i'm waiting on brake parts from japan....hahahaha...anyway i guess we'll just have to wait and see...i was hoping that someone would have tried it already...but i guess i'll have to be the guinny for once..thanks i'll keep you guys posted...if it works maybe i can bring some in for other people.....

You wont need to worry about replacement parts cost. The EVO comes with the standard 4 pot Brembo kit that they sell in the aftermarket. All you would need is to go to the dealer or through Brembo to get replacement rotors. To get them to fit on your car all you would need is the caliper mounting bracket from Brembo designed for a 2g I'm pretty sure.

I am friends with a guy who has an evo 7(yes 7). He was telling me that they are extremely light, i forgot what he said they were made of, and very expensive to replace. If you can get them cheap and they fit your car I know I would be interested in getting some and he prolly would as well when his go out.

Huge azz brakes imo, would look real good on our cars.

the reason i can get them so cheap is because they are coming straight from japan off car that are junked...in japan they have crazy inspection standars so for the most part after 5 years cars go to the junk yard and people buy new ones...it's actually cheaper that way...the only thing i'm going to try first is the rear drum to disk conversion..i have a 95 gst as a donor car...i'll keep you all posted...and if all works out well i will put together a price package for the brakes...gonna try to stick with EVO 6's and 7's...i'm also doing pricing for stock 16 and 20g turbos and EVO intercoolers...give me a shout if you are intersted...

yeh haha owning a car in japan is pretty crazy, ever wonder why we have so many imported japanese engines hehe is exactly what he stated above. They come to the US in a giant pile on a boat and sold in bulk. Think you can find me a stock wing for a 70's fairlady Z and perhaps some badges? haha I had to try

I heard somewhere that evo brakes will fit a 3G eclipse and I think 3G brakes are similar if not the same to ours. good luck dude.

The Evo uses an inverted strut in the front (7 and 8 anyway)- it's more related to the 1g suspension than the 2g. That being said, I'll take a look at how the caliper mounts and let you all know.

Well, the caliper mounts with a 2 bolt pattern similar to the 2g. Next time I have the wheels off, I'll measure the mount dimensions and compare the to the Eclipse brakes (since I have a set still).

Step 2: Grab a lucky strike, Smoke it.
Step 3: Walk to the fridge, double fist some keystone ice, sit down in the shade, drink one beer, finish cigarette, drink other beer, roll a joint, smoke it, walk back to your problem, and in about 5 minutes the solution will come to you.
