my rear right tire was torn up because it started rubbing on the upper control arm after i lowered it( i think it was rubbing before that as well). i have 235/40/18 on 18x8s now. is there anything i can do so it dont rub?

hmm I think you have a problem with you suspension. did you ever hit anything? Because if only one tire is rubbing that's not good, something is bent or something.

235's are too wide.....and 8inch wide wheels is a big large as well... I dont remember what the offset is off of the top of my head, but unless you have the proper offset, tires and wheels that big will rub......especially when lowered.

Camber kit isnt in yet, but it even rubbed slightly i found out before i lowered it. Suspension is brand new, this happened the day i lowered the car. my drivers side rear was a new tire, so im thinking it helped not rub because it curved in sooner that the other side which was pretty worn. Do you think 225/40 or 220/40 will work?

Yea, get some spacers. Do you know what offset your rims have? The lower the offset, the wider the tire you can run.
For example, let's say your rims have a +43mm offset and you're running 235/40's... That's gonna rub so you would wanna get a spacer like 3mm to move the wheel outward. Your overall offset would then be +40mm which should be sufficient to run a 235/40.
That's one solution. But some people don't like spacers because of the added strain on suspension and less lugnut engagement. If your rim's offset is +43mm or lower you should be able to run 225/40's without needing spacers. That's the other, more 'proper' solution. Next time you replace your tires, I'd look into 225/40's instead. They're cheaper anyways.

im sittin on 225/40's on stock height, my offset is 42mm... i have like 1 1/2 fingers width of room, im about to get the goldline springs for a decent drop....... i'll let everyone know if i blow a tire lol
ps i sure as hell hope not though....... toyo t1-s tires arent very cheap

yea i have toyo proxie t1-s on now, and already went through two of them, THey not cheap at all, but the lowering wasnt the issue with them, its the width of the tire rubbing on the control arm bar. was just wondering if anyone is having problems with 225 40's rubbing on it
