well like the title says....looking at yokohama avs es100s for my stock wheels. vfaq says we can get away with 225's w/ stock offset so i want 225/55/16.

any opinions on these tires or suggestions for others? I need a tire with decent wet traction. tia guys

I just bought some Falken GR-B Fk451's and they look pretty good and are MUCH stickier than the Kuhmo's I just replaced. I thought about getting the Yoko es-100's also, but I think that I did well with the Falkens.

Yeah, they are badass tires. I had them on my Rated R's back in the day. They were really sticky and performed well in the rain. If I were to buy new tires for my 16's these would be the ones I would go with...or the Dunlop SP Sport FM901's.

I have 215/45/17 Yokohama AVS ES100 on my car. They are a good tire, pretty good grip and I've had nothing but good experiences with Yokohamas. Ride is a bit rough...not as cushy as Kumho Ecsta 712s. Don't buy those Kumhos though.

me too. the S-03's are amazing. i used to have the yokohama AVS intermediates, but they got discontinued. for the price, they were pretty dam good. wet traction sucked with them though.

a friend of mine has a set of Pilot Sports on his 2001 Volvo S70R. that's a really nice sleeper, and he's done a lot of nice classy upgrades for it. stuff like those tires, shocks, springs, sway bars, etc... i drove it once and that car handles way better than mine, even know it's heavier. it's got some nice torque too. he needs some decent airflow and a less restrictive turbo and that thing would pull like no other.

anyways, the point of my story is that somehow Michlin (or however you spell it) developed "all season" tires that rock on dry pavement too. you usually get what you pay for, and the Pilot Sports have about the highest price tag for a street tire out there.

If you're getting 225 you might want to drop the sidewall to a 50 instead of the stock 55. It will keep the rolling diameter closer.
