Drifting to me is losing traction in a controlled and intentional manner.

This way you can make a turn faster by "sliding" through it instead of slowing down, turning, and speeding up again.

I got banned for being a constant tard.

I think that is the most technical post I have ever seen by MLP. :o

Drifting is just what he said it is. Drifters will try to get their cars sideways by making the rear slide out in turns or they sometimes just swing the car back and forth and see how fast they can go.

The appeal is that drifters drive where most people would lose control and wreck, but these guys drive right at the threshold. They are only a blink away from wiping out, yet they smile for the camera and such.

It's pretty badass. Just look on the web for drifting videos. You'll find some... emoji

Drifting is an art. It is a man and his machine. Real drifting is where you overpower the car into going sideways around a corner unlike this FWD drifting bullshit. No offense to FWD who try drifting, but real drifting is overpowering the rear wheels making the car slide out.

what you just described is a power over or power slide. You can do it in a FWD also but you'll do an understeer drift instead (front tires sliding)

Drifting is just getting sideways. There's many types of drifts also. the bullshit that I apparently do is intertial drifting that is using weight transfer to manipulate the cars ability to oversteer or understeer and create a slide.

Then there's other drifts, jump drift, ebrake drift, feint drift (similar to inertial), dirt drop drift, braking drift, etc....

Everyone thinks drifting is just full countersteer, smoke everywhere, tires screeching, doors opening, victory symbols out the window, etc... but the truth is thats not the only kinda drifting there is. There's race drifting, trying to balance the limit between gripping and drifting, trying to keep the car going as forward as possible when sliding.

yes I get very offended when people try to categorize or define drifting also emoji

I have heard of all the other things you said, but real drifting is when you over power the rear wheels. I totally understand that you get mad or whatever cause you are into the sport/art (judging by your sig) and I totally respect that, but I am just saying what I understand about it.

BTW, my friend was telling me that there is a forum dedicated to drifting, but I don't know the site. Why don't one of you go there and figure out exactly what it is and post it.

I go to club4ag and I used to go to streetracing.org the people in there are a buncha haterz any mention of FF and they'll get on you in their drifting forum. Those guys only think FFs can slide and ass drag. Go read the posts that I've posted in there and watch the flaming. That's no drifting forum its clubFR there.

drifting is not only breaking rear traction. That is only a 2 wheel drift also I can perform 4 wheel drifts in my car so why can't it drift?

but I guess only RWD lovers think one way. I'm just saying what I understand and have been doing for years. I've drifted every driftrain format of car except RR. I guess when Keichi Tsuchiya was gettin sideways in hatekayama's car in options vids he wasn't drifting because the drift king only drifts.

ahhh nm call drifting what you want but thats what I think it is frustrating arguing with people like you. Shiet I don't know what I'm doing but I guess its not drifting.

"I think it is frustrating arguing with people like you. "

I realize over the net it seems like I was arguing, but really I was just telling you my understanding of it. I just don't want you to think I am some kind of hater cause we have diffrent understandings of it. I don't know if I am right or not, but I just have my understanding of it as you do.

Trust me, I am not a hater. Like I said before, I totally respect what you do and wish I had the same type of oppurtunity, but alas... I drive a Hyundai. All well, happy sliding.
