ok i recently picked up a set of neuspeed racing 2in drop springs. my question is will i need camber adjustments? i have lowered 5 cars in shop class, 4 with coilovers and my mustang v6 with springs. none of them had camber problems. WHAT IS THE CAUSE OF BAD CAMBER??????? TIA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

When a car is lower than stock, the center of gravity over the entire car changes. Weight stays closer to the center of the car. This will cause the top part of the wheels to often move out of range. The top of a wheel is closer to the car than the bottom of the wheel. I hope that's not a confusing explanation. If you're looking at them from the front of the car, the top of your two tires will be closer together than the bottom of your two front tired.

If the camber is out of a specific range, the inside of the tires will wear faster than the outside and performance will also suffer. The only way to check your camber is at a tire shop. The thing that sucks is when you lower the car, often most shops can't get it on the rack.

If you lower an Eclipse 2" or more, you're camber will be off. I have H&R Race spring (2-2.5" drop) and my camber was about 1.9º. I use Ingalls extreme model camber adjusters to correct my camber.

Technical explaination:

Camber is the inward or outward tilt of the wheel at the top, measured in degrees from true vertical. Proper camber angle provides directional control stability by placing maximum tire tread in contact with the road surface under all driving conditions. Camber is adjustable on most domestic cars and light trucks. Positive camber is an outward tilt of the wheel and Negative camber is an inward tilt of the wheel. Camber is a directional control angle. Unequal camber causes the vehicle to pull toward the side with the most positive(outward) camber. Camber can be used offset road crown on most short/long arm suspensions. Improper camber settings can cause uneven tire wear and wheel bearing wear.

Obviously some negative camber isn't too bad, but when your rear tires start balding on the inside, it's too much. emoji

This thread takes me back to that do0d with the sig pic that said "I don't rag my tires." Wasn't that HiOnPsi? emoji
