If you're good at fixing anything under the hood, changing the suspension should be a piece of cake. It's just a bunch of bolts. The only tool you might need is a spring compressor.

The best stuff to get is a real coilover suspension. That replaces the stock shocks and springs, and you can adjust ride height and stiffness at each corner. I have personally never been in a car with a real coilover suspension, but I've heard the ride is very comfortable. That's gonna cost you upwards of $1000.

If you're on a budget, you can get lowering springs or coilovers instead. There are ups and downs to each of these. Springs provide a smoother ride but are at a fixed height. If you don't like the height they provide, your only choice is to replace them with a different set of springs.

Coilovers on the other hard are adjustable... so you can adjust them up or down until you're at the height you're happy with. The bad thing about coilovers is that the ride is generally crappy. The best known coilovers are Ground Controls and Skunk2's. I have AroSpeed coilovers, but they tend to bottom out a bit.

Shocks, there's basically two kinds of shocks: adjustable and non-adjustable. Adjustable shocks allow you to change bound and rebound stiffness. This is good for like the track, where you can make the rear end stiffer and the front end softer for better grip, or at a course where you can adjust it for desired oversteer or understeer. With non-adjustable shocks you're stuck at where you're at, but are a little cheaper. There's 3 brands of adjustable shocks for our cars: KYB AGX, Tokico Illumina's, and Koni Yellow's. KYB's are the least expensive, while Yellow's are the most expensive.

When you lower a car, it's going to throw off the camber. The lower you go the worse. You can lower up to 1.5 inches and get by with the $15 rear camber kit (which is basically longer bolts and washers you can buy at a hardware store). The front camber starts to get off spec once you go lower than about 1.5 inches. Then you'll need a dedicated camber kit for the front and rear. To the best of my knowledge, Ingalls has the best camber kits out there. I'm lowered almost 2 inches and have a Ingalls Extreme camber kit in the front and the $15 camber kit on the rear using six washers at each bolt. Four washers is recommended, but I used six and haven't had any problems with it.

You must go to an alignment shop when you get the suspension changed... especially if you put a front camber kit. The front camber kit will change the toe settings and it will be dangerous to drive it with wheels turning away from each other.

I hope that gets you started on it, that's pretty much the basics you need to know. I'll let someone else fill you in on sway bars, strut bars, and brakes. emoji

Goin along with the Konig's, I was told that ground control coilovers won't work with thoes. I don't know if its true or not, but I got Tokico's because I know that they work and I love them.
