#1883, "Got my front lower strut bar .. FOR REAL!"

Came in today. it's small. i expected it to be bigger. No instructions. It has sharp edges, and i cut me when i put it back in the box. Not bad, no blood. Came with 1 bolt, one metal bushing.

Guess it's time to install it.

Mine came today as well. I'm at work so I'll have to get it after work.

I hope I don't cut myself either! LOL (There better be a warning about sharp objects in there or I might have to haul RRE's ass in court over here in Il.) emoji

What can i say?

I LIKE IT!

Install was simple, the hardest part was getting the car on jackstands emoji I took it out through my parent's neighborhood after it was done (it's build like a rally track - coolest thing ever. Lots of twisties!) I hung a full 180* corner coming back into the subdivision in a full four wheel drift at the top of second gear .. i thought i was gonna hit the curb, but it stayed true with nary a squeel of the tires. It's badass. You can't beat that for $50.

...is exactly how this thing helps for both wheels. it ties the passenger side front suspension to the front crossmember, but has absolutly nothing to do with the drivers side suspension. Wouldn't it be much more benefitial if it tied the bottom suspension together via that center crossmember rather than just one side? Someone explain it to me. I know it works, because i can feel the difference, but i don't understand the engineering behind it. Why not tie both sides together rather than one side to the frame ?

The exact answer to your question is that the driver's side control arm is already very well attached to the frame of the car. The reason the passenger's side is not nearly as firm is because they needed to make room for the exhaust piping. So the RRE lower tie bar attached the passenger side lower control arm to the frame of the car so it is like one strong unit. Hope that helps...

haha cool. You know what DarkOne I did the same thing with my car and I drifted right into the curb emoji I was excited about having the bar installed and I took it for a spin around my parents house and bam. Well you can see what happened to it on my post in the General section. I think the bar might have jacked me up because I wasn't used to it being there.... go figure, I never really had a good chance to test it but the front seemed stiffer.

It may have been me, too. I have both upper bars already, so my setup was pretty stiff before the lower bar. That most likely kept me from pulling an Omega and doing a zen number with the curb.

Sorry about your ride, man. If it were me (and it has been, never doubt it) i would take it to a good body shop and call your insurance company. You may have to pay for it in the long run, but as bad as that damage looked, there may have been some frame warpage from the impact. Better safe than sorry.
