#18188, "Perchless Struts 4 LOW Shunk2 Drop..."

I've been sitting on these Shunk2's 4 a good long while now trying 2 save up ~$500+ 4 some Koni Yellows & am getting very tired of the high ride w/ my 16x8's. I don't remember which have NO PERCH 4 the Shunk2's Bsides the Koni's. Right now I think I'd rather settle 4 2nd or 3rd best & save some $$$ or I'll never get dropped emoji

1) What struts R perchless & work great w/ Shunk2's?

Like above, I'm looking 4 a cheaper alternative 2 the Koni's... Thanx!

I would suggest Koni Yellows to compilment the high spring rates of the skunks. You'll be kicking yourself if u get a "not so great" shock, can you say rollercoster ride?

The perch on my Tokico Illumina was my problem child.

You can get Illumina's too, slightly cheaper than the Koni's.

The only problem is that the perches are welded on so you'd have to either grind them or hack them off. That's what I did and work great.

ARGHhhhh, HMmmmmmm... yeah, yeah... I know... YES, I want the Koni Yellows BUT am getting impatient, have prob had these Shunk2's now 4 about a year. Unfortunately sh*t happens as U know & it just C'ms like their getting pushed back more & more. :: sigh ::

No other perchless high quality struts huh? I know Xactly what U R saying about a roller coaster, not an Xaggeration. I'm not really looking 2 cutting off a perch, I'd just assume get some w/out it already. HMMmmmmmmmmmmmmmm. I'm gonna keep monitoring this post if any more peeps got some suggestions emoji

Thanx,

I would save for the koni's man. Your getting impatient and want to get it done, but if you take a lil more time you'll have the koni's and be thanking yourself. I have a set of eibach sportlines sitting in my room I just need the koni's. emoji

You gotta grind off all the weld... I'd say it's just under 1/4 inch. I did that for the rear shocks and it took me a looong time though.

For the front shocks I decided to use a hacksaw to cut the perch off by sawing right under the weld. When I cut it all around down to the shock body itself, I slipped the perch down and off. Much easier imo.

Either way just be careful you don't cut or grind too deep into the shock! Also, you void any warranty on the shock.

Oh, I have Arospeed coilovers which I bought a little over two years ago. The ride is alright, but they have very little travel and tend to bottom out easily even when the shock is set at stiffest.
