Go to http://howellautomotive.com and get it there. I want to say it's $75? I don't have one. I may get one if I start to take her to the track. I'll see how the Energy Suspension inserts go, once I get them in. Use the solid mount for the track and the inserts for the street. There is a nice vibration above 5k from what I hear. I know idle sucks in my Neon with the solid rear mount. (It's coming out in the summer)

were you being sarcastic when you said "nice" vibration?
can you explain to me what exactly it does?
so this is for people who race.. daily drivers don't really need it?

thanks.

Marc (maybe i should be racing too! hehehehe)

First let me say that I DON'T own one for my Eclipse.

I have the solid rear mount in my Neon and at Idle I can actually see the steering wheel vibrate. You can feel it throughout the car. It has actually gotten better since I first put it on... broke in I guess. But my plastic interior pieces are starting to rattle. Until I braced my rear view mirror, it would vibrate. When I'm driving I don't really notice it at all unless I'm at higher rpms and high throttle. But it doesn't really bother me when driving. It's at idle that it's most annoying. I actually have a girl friend of mine who would rather drive than take my Neon on a road trip. Very noisy at like 3500rpm which is cruising highway speed for the car. So like I said I plan on taking it out.

What I've heard is that the solid mount for the DSMs isn't nearly as bad as the Neon one. It's a totally different engine mount set up so it wouldn't surprise me. The DSMs solid mount is supposedly only bad above 5k. at Idle supposedly it's fine. Somebody on the board who has one for our cars would be better to ask.

With all that said I have Energy Suspension Motor mount inserts for us that I haven't put in yet, that only cost me $25. So if the solid mount sounds too harsh for you after talking to others, you can go this route. RRE has them for this price, be sure to specify Non-Turbo. (they told me it make a difference, I think they inserts are the same but just in different places, anyway)

You can also call Howellautomotive and talk to Gary, he';s very helpfull and would be happy to talk with you about the mount, since there are no returns due to noise and vibration.

If you are a performance nut like most of us on here I am willing to bet that you wil love the mount on your car. At first it is a big change(for the better). After a couple weeks like most mods, you forget it is on there. GET ONE you won't regret it.

...there is not any kind of chassis vibration except from your engine roaring through a solid engine mount instead of it being absorbed by the rubber that was there before. The mount also stops the jumping of your engine when accelerating and transfers that forward motion to your driving wheels for better acceleration. However, I've already had torque steer in my car but it has increased from the solid form mount, but oh well, that's what happens when you own a FWD car - Torque steer. I'm a performance nut but have driven my car daily with the solid mount before. CERTAINLY nothing overwhelming and slight engine virbrations start at about 4500rpms. It will start later in a less raucous engine then mine, something at like 5500 - 6000rpms. The UDP will also minimize it but nothing I worry about. With it installed my car feels mean. Not like a car flying apart from a poor alignment. I like it quite a bit and bought it for a good deal - thanx Don!
