i finally figured out what was makin all the noise... the upper control arm on the pass side is loose.. however I tightened down all the bolts (ones that go up into the engine bay,, and the ones that run horizontal)and it still moves around... now where it mounts in the back.. is there a bushing in there that could possibly be worn, almost seems like its plastic? i didnt have the time to take the arm off today and look at it... if it is a bushing issue, can u buy the bushing or does it require a new arm??..thanx todd

Most shops will charge you for a new upper control arm, even if it is only the bushing that is damaged. A local shop here in my town wanted 250 per arm to replace. I told them no thanks, seeming as how you can find anything for your 2gnt on the internet (just takes some good searching.) I still need to replace my upper control arms as well. I have been able to find the upper control arm assembly for under 125 bones.

hey could you guys describe the symptoms of needing a new upper control arm?

mitsubishi doesn't sell just bushing. if the bushings are bad they will just replace the arm. you can get energy suspension or prothane(i think) bushings though to use as replacements. how is your control arm loose, like does it move back and forth on the ends or is it on the ball joint?

i had a serious brain fart..well since it was a bout 4 years since the car was lowered, 3 diff sets of springs.. i forgot all about the camber kit.. it turns out that the wonderful piece of plastic has finally run its course...i already tried the dealer,, and yes they dont sell bushings.. i just got a used arm at the junkyard for 20 bux,, car is back to stock and being sold, so i dont feel the need to put nice bushings in

as for what it sounds like..well it basically "clunks" alot ususally over rought road,doeesnt sound good, and sometimes if i was going about 70 and let off the gas,, you could here it "clunk" a bit (always thought that noise was the tools in the glove box movin around) all i did was go under the car and started pullin on every moving suspension related part till i found the noise
