I have finally saved up around 1000 dollars and am trying to get my 96 eclipse gs lowered, get some 17 racing rims, either 5, 6, maybe 7 spoke and i am just trying to get some opinions. What is your opinion on this? I am trying to lower it to match the rims, so i know i will need rims, tires, shocks, and springs, which brands or wut not would you suggest?

read this section alot and you'll find out what people like and don't like. a grand is a tight budget for wheels tires and lowering.
first do springs. i'd go eibach personally. -200 about wheels. check my sig. that's mille miglia M11-2's. that's what iwant. 17x7's are 109 a peice. that's 436+tax and shipping. i'd buy tires at sears and have them do it. if you buy tires anywhere but the place that puts them on they'll charge you for it. so you're better off just going that way. browse on tire rack and then tell the store what you want.

I'm not positive what you like, but what ^^^^^ is true. $1000 is a little tight for rims/tires, shocks, and springs. I can tell you what I got on my limited budget.
I bought 17'' HP Typhoons w/ kuhmo ecsta 215/45 tires for around $900 shipped from Wheelmax.com.
To lower, I bought Goldline Springs from Matrix Racing on eBay. Its a 2'' drop w/ lifetime no sag warantee. These were $110 shipped.
In addition, I bought Tokico Blue struts from Power Garage on eBay for around $240 shipped.
I really like my wheels/tires. Wheelmax was a good place to deal with imo. The service was good to me and the shipping was decently quick. The lugnuts my rims came with were pretty shitty though. They are weak and will snap eventually I think. I snapped one on accident and ended up just buying a better set from a local store.
I've only had my springs and struts for about a week now but I absolutely love them so far. The ride quality is near stock. Its slightly stiffer but is really only noticable to the driver. 2'' for where I live, New England, is pretty near perfect imo. It looks sweet as hell and makes driving so much more fun.
The shipping for the springs and struts was a little slow, but I expect that from an eBay company.
However, add what I got up : $900 + $110 + $240 = $1350 And I did all the suspension install myself, which wasn't hard, but saves $$.
So thats what I got, sorry its long but do what you will w/ my info

i paid around $1300 for just wheels and tires. wheels were supposed to be 185 each, and tires 140 each, but i got it for 160 a wheel and 106 a tire (it's great when discount tire screws up)

"And where can you get all 4 corners new struts for $100???"
I'm pretty sure KYB GR2's are around 150-180 shipped. Those were the cheapest I found but I heard some not so good things about them so opted for the Tokico Blues for about $100 more~

GR2's aren't that great. they're basically a OE replacemnt. the AGX would probably be the cheapest strut that would make a good enough difference. than a step up would be tokico illuminas. and then at the top of the price scale are the koni sports(yellows). illuminas and yellows are probably about the same performance wise. illuminas give you 5way adjustability instead of 3 like the yellows.

Yeah 1000 dollars is definately tight, i mean you could probably do the whole setup but you wouldnt be getting parts that are that great.. I got my rims in the winter time, so i had all winter to save for the rest of the setup (this month HOPEFULLY im getting tokico illuminas shocks) but for me, rims=2400 Adj coilovers=200, installation=400 ... so thats about 3000 right there and I STILL havent gotten my new shocks.. like someone else said on here, i do the bunny hop now
