#1713, "Coil-over or not to Coil-over that is the question. Ground Controls.. what else is good?"

Ok I messed up... when I did my suspension upgrade last year this time ... I cut one very important corner...

I got a GSX rear-sway bar(Not installed yet), KYB's-AGX, UPPER and LOWER Front And Back Strut braces, Ingals camber correction @ all fours... and some Sprint springs! Damn me... I got cheep on the last component… the springs.

Now I am paying the Price sorta. I should have got the Eibach.

My sprints have stared to sag a little. I can tell cuz I have a very wide z-rated tire on the car (225-55-16).. on the Stock 16 in rim… Also Had it mounted on a wider rim that came of a probe GT … (Mighty fine looking wheel I must say)

So the car has a tendency to bottom out on bumps at the rear wheels due to the width of the tire. The tires sit right under the rear fenders.

I have shaved the “Blades” off the fenders…. What was Mitsu thinking???
But the tires still gets a cut here and there on a hard bump.

So I was looking at coilovers since they allow you to change the ride height.... I am using Spring rubbers now but when it gets warm outside they turn to mush.... even when I have a light weight passenger in the car. Every hard bump or turn “SCRAP!!!! And the smell of Rubber ”

I was looking at the Ground Control Kit. anyone out there use ground controls kit?

I would like to get your opinions on this and other kits.
The Key is that I want Eibach springs... Either in a coil over kit or the simple Pro-kit it self... I am just worried that the tires will still rub the fender under hard bumpy turning...
I want to eliminate that 100% No more Halfstep'n

Thanks Gang!
-Bones

Dont mean to sound rude, but coilovers for 179$ somethings just plain wrong with that. I am actually also looking at Ground Control Coilovers, a little pricy, but i believe well worth the money in the long run.

the maxspeed coilovers are just as good as the ground controls (maybe a little less, but they are damn good) and they are only $150

WOW nice looking car bro!

Umm Yeah ... I should clear up the word "Cut" it was more like banged the blades....

We took a small hammer and went to work on those boys.

All you need to do is 'BEND" them so they are no longer in the vertical plane...
My "Blades" are horizontal now and the welds are still intact..

I would not cut them just bend them upward a bit...
Be sure to rust proof them after the operation...

No I did not weld them...

The welds that were done by the robots at the plant remained intact.... Meaning I did not cut them.. I just bent the blades upward a little.

The Rust Proof thing:

When using the good ol'hammer To bend the blades Some of the paint came off of the welds... So be sure to spary some clear acryllic(SP?) on the area to insure that the affected area wont rust over time.

Good Luck -Bones

i just had mine cut, nothing special, but i am going to try and get some fiberglass added to the fenders to make them lower. i decided to go ahead and put my rear coilovers in yesterday and i got the perches all the way at the bottom (4") and now im almost tucking rim out back, so i am gonna see about getting some 'glass added to the bottom lip about 2 inches down so that i can tuck about an inch and a half of rim in there. i think i am going to use the kaminari widebody front fenders for the fronts.
