Try getting your hands on an impact wrench. The torque from that might spin the nut down fast enough so it will grab and stop the ball joint from spinning.

Are you sure its not the connection to the sway bar link? If it is you you need an allen wrench and a small open wrench. there should be an indentation on the bolt for you to insert the allen wrench to keep the ball joint from turning. hope this helps.

Take a mallet(or a hammer but be careful) and pound lightly on the ball joint, upwards, to make the arm of the balljoint tight into the steering knuckle. Basically you are making the joint get "pressed" into place, which should be enough so the damn thing doenst turn on you. I did this on mine, and it worked good, since the arm is taperd that fits into the knuckle hole, you make it tight so it doenst turn.

Yup, my dead-blow hammer came in very handy for this. hit it until the ball joint seats and you can tighten, once it tightenes it will grip even harder.

This is what you should do, i didn't do it, and i paid the price. Serious... Found that out today, now my car's at the body shop, good thing it didn't come off on the freeway.
