Having Problems? Heres my Three step solution to anything 2gnt related.
Step 1: Put down everything in your hands.
Step 2: Grab a lucky strike, Smoke it.
Step 3: Walk to the fridge, double fist some keystone ice, sit down in the shade, drink one beer, finish cigarette, drink other beer, roll a joint, smoke it, walk back to your problem, and in about 5 minutes the solution will come to you.

Thanks for the info, When I did my rear bar last weekend, I tried to get it to push out... dunno if i did it right though, those things have too many moving parts. Stupid ebay bars..

But Yea, seems pretty obvious that it has to be tightened outward to push against the chassis... you're trying to hold and reinforce the shape, not help crumple it.

I just got some strut bars a couple weeks ago and thats how I put them on. Once the bar was on, I just kpet flipping it so it was unscrewing it self from the bolts that attach to the mounting plate which made it push outward. Thats how I got the bar tight so it wouldn't move, then I just tightened down the nuts on the sides of the bar so you couldn't flip it anymore. Just made sense to do it that way.

Oh and I HAD to do that to the rear bar to make it even the least bit functional. The design of my rear bar is just plain a$$. I don't think any thought went into the design of it. The problem with that is the mounting plates, the part that goes up, over, and hangs down over the panels in the trunk. The bar mounts to it there, but it's really not braced against anything and the bar ain't gonna do a damn thing but move left and right or twist or whatever. I had to tighten that bish outward as far as it would go. So far in fact that the bolts on the end of the bar almost came out of the bar. Now the mounting brackets for the bar are bent inwards pushing up against the plastic panels inside my trunk, which pushes the plastic panels up against the frame so now the bar can't really move. Sure it's digging a hole into the panels, but I don't care as long as it does what it's supposed to do. Still a crappy design though.

Oh, and I got the bars off ebay. They're OBX type-gx bars. They looked good cause from what I saw it was a big fat beefy bar. The front bar is cool. I have no issues with that... just that rear bar design.
