#15163, "LOUD bang happend in my rear..HELP"

Ok, I heard a loud bang in my rear one day when I hit a small pothole the other day...and now the car is bumpy and rough as hell on ANY surface, including flat as shit concrete. Wtf? Did I blow the rear shocks or what? Some people said it might be the bushings. The car also seems not to be cornering as well anymore either...

Any ideas?

TIA!

sounds like u blew a shock or shocks. check to see if there are any oily stains around the shock towers, front and back. hope this helps

EDIT: wheel wells too. if possible, stick ur hand in there and lift up the dust cover.

Hard to tell really..but sounds like you bottomed out your struts. A simple test to see if your struts are still in good shape: Push down hard, on each rear corner of the car, making the car go down as far as you can. Push the car down hard, and fast, and the car should rebound and bounce back up, only ONCE. If the car bounces more than one time, like if the car comes back up then bounces a little then stops, then your struts are blown. Also check for tightness on each wheel. Jack up each wheel, one at a time, and grasp the wheel and try and wiggle it or move it back and forth, up and down. It should be all nice and tight, with no abnormal movement of the suspension bushings, and wheel bearings.

what he said ^^^^.

You said the car seems to bounce even on smooth surfaces? Sounds like blown shocks to me. I'm an expert on blown shocks, had them for at least 6 months. Heh. First try that test push down test.. except I would suggest actually jumping down and getting it as far down as you can. If it bounces more then onces, it's the shocks. I would also check wheels too for loosness (also said above) but also, check the tires themselves. I suggest taking them off and examing since the inside of the tire might be damaged, and you wouldn't be able to see that. Hitting the pothole could have bubbled the tire.

a tire bubble won't do that. tire bubbles are a weakened sidewall. the air pressure in the tire pushes on the weak spot and makes a bubble. sidewall bubbles means your about to blow a hole in your tire.

i'm goin with struts. sounds pretty nuts though.
