Hey guys
Do any of you have a problem with your camber kit making your upper control arm hit the body of the car? I went to get my car alligned today, and the shop said they could do it, but would rather not, because the kit "sucks" as the guy told me. He said that every car he's seen with this kind of kit, every control arm has hit the body. He told me that I would need to get the ball joint type of camber kit. Any ideas? Did I do anything wrong?

Yes, he is correct. The Ingalls front kit (the +1.25-+3 one) will most likely hit the inner upper fenderwell if adjusted more than about +1.35 or so. That means that you will either have to modify the inner uppper fender well, or the ball joint thing. I am dropped about 2" in the front, and i kept the adjustment on the kit to its most negative setting (+1.25 degrees) and it does not hit the fender well. But its CLOSE. I'd say there is about 1/8" gap from the outer edge of the controll arm and the fender well. It just so happened when i got my alignment, that the front camber was perfecly in spec with it like this for my drop. Go figure. I'd say to have them just leave it at +1.25 setting (most negative setting) and be done with it, unless you are really set on getting perfect front camber specs. If its close to stock spec, then I'd say leave it alone. If its way off, then you must be dropped at least 3"+. Thats a bit too low IMO. The controll arm should not be hitting with the kit at its +1.25 degree setting too.

ok, I'll check that out, but I'm pretty sure it's at the 1.25 setting.
I'd like to keep this kit, cuz I've already paid for it, and don't really want to pay $240 for the kit he's talking about.

Bumped up an older thread but...

I have the exact same problem. I bought Ingall's 1.25-3 degree front camber kit. I just installed it, lowered it back down... and it won't even go all the way down. The car is resting on the control arms! It's set at the lowest camber setting (1.25), anyone have any tips on how I can modify the control arm? It seems like I'd have to hack away a quarter inch...

To answer my own problem and yours, I just took my camber kit out and put the factory "legs" back in. I had my alignment done and the camber was still in spec, so you should be ok too.

Throw the kit away and just get an alignment? How much camber can they adjust on the stock hangers? I refuse to take it to an alignment shop cause I'm afraid they'll mess up my car.

I'll try grinding it down a bit and see what happens, thanks.

Just beat it with a hammer and make more room fit it... that's what I did. You can't see the "damage" with the wheels on anyways.

lol. doods. when you have to modify a camber correction kit shouldn't you start to think that you're a bit to low? get bigger wheels maybe?

Hehe, I got em in! Nothing a hammer and a hacksaw couldn't fix. Then I sanded it down to bare metal and painted it so it won't rust.

Man I must've had some mean camber, I have the 1.25-3 degree kit set on min and I STILL have a little bit of negative camber. It looks a lot better though... now I can drop it a little bit more without having my tires looking sideways.

Anyone know if a camber kit can affect toe settings? I was just looking at my car and it seems like the front wheels toe outward a little. I don't know if this is old or if I'm just now noticing this. I'm gonna keep a close eye on tire thread...
