#14943, "HELP!! My suspension is making and ungodly noise??"

What the problem is, when i turn my wheels there is a LOUD creeking noise coming from the passenger front side. I starts when i first turn the wheel (either direction) and ends before full lock. I suspect cv axel but am not sure. One other DSM'er on a local board said he thought it was more likely to be a hub bearing, but i have no idea and need HELP

TIA

Ryan

if it sounds like a creaky spring mattress I have the same thing. I haven' had the chance to look at the suspension yet (always dark when I am done w/ work). Strangely enough mine is also comming from the passenger side. I posted about it a little while ago and some people thought it was possibly the strut. Mine also started when it was hella cold out.

Well i just went out and tried to diagnose the problem more. It only happens when i turn the wheel slowly, i does not happen when i turn the wheel quickly. It also only happens for maby 1 complete turn of the steering wheel, not even a complete turn and then it stops. That is the same in either direction. My dad said mabey rack and pinon, im not sure, mabey that diagnosis will help. Also it only started when it got this cold, if it go's away when it gets warmer again, i may not worry about it at all and attribute it to the cold..

is it a squeaking as you turn the wheel or does it continue to squeak as you hold the wheel in a turn?

first thing i would do to trouble shoot is get a lube done. grease the fittings underneath and see if that helps.

bad wheel bearings don't squeak. at least mine didn't. mine would make the car vibrate when i turned to the side of the bad bearing. if the wheel was dead center it would be fine and if it was left it would be fine but as soon as it went right of dead center it would vibrate and continue to vibrate as i held the wheel in the turn

thanks beefgg for the sig

Can you hear the squeek inside or out? I think since it has been cold out, that your suspension parts are contracted and not expanded far enough to where they were before. I would say to wait on some above freezing temps and see if it goes away. I'll be down this weekend, give me a ring or shoot me some mail, and I can look at it in the afternoon after 4 on Sat. Did you lower your car?

Shit is all apart. Typical...
