I just bought some rims off of someone and they will not fit on my car. they are from a 98 gs and I have a 95 rs. the hub looked a little bigger on my car and the rim wouldnt fit over it. Anyone know what I can do. Never heard of this before.

i don't know why they wouldn't fit. are you talking about the five star, five lug, 16" rims. they should just bolt up. what hub are you talking about?

Yup the five star 16' rims from a 98. I went to put em on and they were to small to fit over the hub part and wouldnt seat flush. It's the first time I've heard or seen of it. Anyone else heard or seen of this.

I bet $5 that there are little plastic rings around your hub that are needed for aftermarket wheels. For example: my rims have a black plastic spacer thing that I either put in the rim's hole, or I put it on the hub before the rim to make them seat properly. I bet you have the same situation. Look at the hub itself and see if I'm right. It's prolly a black ring...

Yeah I took those off. You only need those on aftermarket rims. They still wouldnt work with them off. They are stock 98 gs five star rims and they are too small to fit over the hub. If they were too big I could use the rings.

Yeah I just checked the specs and the center bore shows 2.64in. I'm gonna go measure it. This is kinda weird.

Yeah, that doesn't make sense at all. I've taken the 5 spoke 16" rims off my GS, put them on a 91 Talon TSi, then they went to a 92 Laser RS. I thought all DSM's had the same bolt pattern.

Yeah there all the same bolt pattern but the center bore seemed to be smaller on the rims than on the hub part itself. I actually bought the rims from a guy who had them on a 92 GSX. I measured the centerbore on the rims and they were 2.64in like the specs say. I dont know why It was to small for my hub. I'll try to check it out again this weekend i guess. Still would like to know if anyone has seen this before. TIA

Bent wheel studs? Try it on the back wheel or vice-versa.

Any chance you have the 2-piston big brake upgrade?

No two piston upgrade that I'm aware of. Hmmm Bent wheel stud. That might be sumthin. I'll try em on the back since I just tried the front. If it is a bent wheel stud what should I do to fix it. I wont be able to mess with it tomorrow because I'll be eating all day and watching football but I'm gonna check it out friday. TIA

I think you have to buy a new hub if a stud is bent... but I would probably just duct-tape the stud and take a hammer to it.

I think that it is being implied that it would be tough to remove a warped lug stud, as it is a tight fit to begin with. So the previous couple of comments were referring to how to change a lug stud that has warped, not just changing a lug stud.

i had to change a bent lug stud once. i just took a hammer to it and broke it off. then i took a pointed chisel and popped the other piece out. the new one was a bitch to get all the way in. air tools help out a lot here. if your careful you can take the nut, turn it around and use the air gun to pull the bolt through the hole. it worked for me. could possibly strip it though.

hey.....also another thing that you might wanna try is the see if the hubs are clean. if they got alot of oxidation on there it would cause it not to seat right. ive seen that problem alot at work.

I had that hub rust problem on mine. Now, this wasn't a problem with getting the rim on - it was a problem getting the rotor to sit flat. So it may not be your problem. But anyway, the rust was so bad on the outside diameter of the raised part of the hub that the rotor just wouldn't seat flat against the hub. I used a stone bit on my portable drill to get rid of the rust - that did the trick for me.

Well heres the deal. I checked the studs and they where fine. I'm gonna probably have to replace the whole front hub assembly. The center part that fits through the rotor then fits in the stock rims is made to fit on the stock rims perfect. Aftermarket rims dont matter because the center bore is bigger and they use plastic spacer to fill the gap. For some reason the center part on my front hub assembly looks like its warped or got beat up or something. And it's like a millimeter bigger than the bore on the wheel. Just enough so I cant fit it on the stock wheels. Well I'll keep the 18's on for now and hope it doesnt snow to bad before I can replace the hub. I could probably grind the center part of the hub, but Screw it I might as well replace it. It depends on how much it costs though. Thanks for the help everyone though.

Yeah you can, I had to change 3 of my wheel studs. They were like 1.XX each. Just tell them the make, model, year, and they'll pull it up. They don't look OE, and they were different lug nuts, but it works. It temp for me, until I can goto Satan and get OEM studs.
