#13820, "Not sure what this is...."

For the past month or so anytime I accelerate hard or brake hard and hit a bump.... I hear a really loud bang..almost like something is hitting the frame or wheel well.. on the front right side.

I think the first time I heard it was when I was accelerating hard and had some wheel hop. I don't think its the strut itself because it only happens whenn either braking or accelerating.

Has anyone experienced this?? Any ideas on what to look for....??

TIA

Chad

It could be a bad motor mount, or
(much less likely) your CV joint is starting to go bad. They are both easy enough to check. Just take a look at them and see if the motor mount is starting to tear, and see if the CV joint boot is still in one piece.

I'd take a good looks at the motor mounts. They usually cause a car to make noise like that when accelerating, decellerating, making corners, ect...

You've probably got a bad a-arm bushing where the knuckle connects to it. I've had one for years, and aside from the occasional clunk, nothing bad has come of it.

have had that too...!! Ive brought it up before but didnt get much of a respond. Let me guess it comes and goes right? makes you feel like something bad is gonna happen? It hapens when you stop and then go right? not when turning and stuff... kinda like a 'clunk'? I have had my friends tell me it was my brakes and such but I think its the suspension. I doubt its a motor mount. Tell me what you find, ill look for it too.

when you did the recall did they inspect them or replace them, if they only inspected take it in again and get them replaced (trust me, the inspection/regrease is not what should have been done, it should be replaced) the recall is still open for your car until the parts have been replaced.

Your noise could be the swaybar bushing, it cracks right down the middle and then the sway bar hits the frame, or it could be the a arm bushing
