#13069, "Car stalls out when doing sharp turns?"

Hi, this has happened to me twice in the past month..whenever i take a sharp turn..my steering wheel locks up..and my car shuts off as if it stalled out..and i don't know what is wrong..is it maybe my power steering belt? or my power steering fluid? I thought I never had to fill it up? I'm not sure..but it's weird and i hope it's nothing big..it happened once when i took a pretty sharp left and once when i took a pretty sharp right..not like really fast..but not like a grandma turn.. Thanks for the help

I really don't know much about it, other than bits and pieces I have gathered from others. But what you are experiencing sounds like one of the symptoms I have heard. I hope its not.

Check the signature Bubba, he's driving a GS-T.

It is one of the classic symptoms for crankwalk. I don't suppose you had very low fuel in both cases? enough force to push the fuel away from the fuel pick up.

There are a bunch of people here who don't have 2.0 DOHC Chrysler Motors... There are a bunch of GS-Ts, GSXs, a Camaro or 2, and a Mustang. Not to mention everyones favorite li'l ZX-2. And no, I don't have a 2.0 Chrysler motor... anymore... Well, it's still a Chrysler and nonturbo, but it is 2.4L. 22% more fun. Motor is in, now just waiting on my transmission!

Well I heard doing sharp LEFT turns only..but this happened only once doing a right turn and once doing a left turn..and both i was going pretty fast.. my RPMs dont move when i step on the clutch and hold it down..also my gas and oil were good both times.. my car doesn't sound anything like the crankwalk.wav..i hear no noises except the usual timing belt moving..

Thats gotta be somewhat dangerous, doing a sharp turn and then it locks up... Would scare da hell outta me. Good luck with the problem though man, I dont know what it could be myself.

I read some where that for us (2gnt's) if you have low fuel and take a sharp right the car has no fuel to suck up. And for 1G its the left turns. It happens to me everyonce in a while when i take a hard turn( usualy right) and hit the gas it cuts out the reason the steering locks up is cuz the car basically shuts off but for me it never stalls out. Supposedly if you have at least a third tank it wont happen. I think i saw it on www.dsm.org in the FAQ's. But im pretty sure thats it.... hopefully.

completely random but I had a bad ecu once and doing some sharp turns caused it to short out, and when the ecu loses the power, the entire car shutsoff in mid flight. just a random thing Ill throw in. hard to pull over to restart. sometimes had to wait to restart till whatever was melting stopped melting

I got banned for being a constant tard.
