#12105, "Loud clanging after car drop?"

I put in cheap ass dropzone coilovers. Not sure how much it dropped my car, all I know is its 0-4 inches and I set it down all the way.

Now in the back I get a loud clang or band from either side when the tire hits a average to big bump, or if im going fast then even a small bump is heard. Its not the top of the strut banging the screw because i screwed it on hell tight, that was my first guess though. Only happens in the back.... Hmmmm.

I got banned for being a constant tard.

Are the coilovers connected to the shock/strut or do they just sit there??If they just sit there and aren't bolted down, every time you hit a bump the backend pops up because the springs are tighter which could lift the coilover up off the shock. The sound that you hear is when the coilover reseats itself.

There should be little holes at the bottom of the coilovers. When you bought them they should have come with little screws that go into the hold and they hold the coilover against the strut.there should be three to four holes per coilover.

check the wheel bearing thinger. in the back above the rear wheel is that big ass metal bar that connect to a V shaped thing. shake the big ass bar and see if it wobbles. that could be it.

have a similar problem. i have prokits on gr2s. i am almost sure that my problem is that the spring that rests on the perch bounces and hits the perch - thus the clunk. annoying as hell!. i have it on both rears.

i am desperate. so while my car is getting an oil change at the dealer ( lifetime free oil change, you can't beat it!), i asked the guy about it and he said $56 bucks to take a look at it. and it will apply to the repair. i was tempted to get it done. but i thought if they can fix it, a local mechanic may be able to also. ( altho, the guy who set up my suspension had run out of ideas. he said that the springs seemed short that is why there is play)

anyway.. i am riding along with clunking on my rears. looks good from the outside though emoji just embarassing to have people always ask "what the hell is that sound??"

help?
