I've got new rotors i'm trying to put on. Is an air socket wrench required to get the two caliper bolts off? I tried with regular sockets by hand and they don't budge. Also are the threads reversed or something? This is really ticking me off. It shouldn't be this hard just to replace some rotors.

soak it with wd-40 let it sit for a while..You will need a good breaker bar not just a normal socket wrench.

I just did mine a few months ago and we used an air wrench, but I have heard a lot of guys do it with just a braker bar like mentioned ^^^. It's not that hard to do once you get those bolts off. Oh,... and they are NOT reverse threaded. Lefty loosey!!

thanks for the help. i managed to find a guy with an air tool set. It worked nicely except one of my lug nuts was cross threaded to begin with. The whole bolt came of with the nut. Gotta love that. So now i'm running on 4 lug nuts til i can get back to the air tools. Pneumatics RULE!

Dude, u don't really need air tools to get the bolt off. just use a hammer and pound on the rachet. it worked for me. btw replace your broken stud when u get your brake/caliper off.

i broke a craftsman socket on that damn caliper bolt. Trust me, i tried hammering away. The air tools worked great.

use a wrench extension (like a long pipe ) to give you more leverage, and that's the safest way of doing it. Impacting these things or hitting them with hammers causes stress fractures.
