i just got a set of 17inch rims, they have 245/45/17 tires. i need to know what the best way to lower my car is (kit or not) and i need to get some lower tires. any suggestions. thanks

To lower your car properly, you are going to need lowering springs. They work with stock shocks, but I would definitely suggest getting aftermarket shocks. If you want to go pretty low you will need camber kits. I've been told the $15 rear camber mod that is explained on this site works fine for up to a 2 inch drop. As far as getting lower profile tires than 45's on 17's, I wouldn't do it. The main reason to lower your car is for better handling and to reduce the ugly wheel well gap. If you get 40 series tires your gap will just get bigger.

what do you think the best springs and shocks are.

I have the Eibach Prokits with Tokico Illuminas and they work out great. I used the camber mod too......

Oh I also have 205/40/17's on there with very little wheel gap at all...

I have 17x7 hp typhoons w/ 215/45/17 kumhos on em, what would be the best springs to use to lower my car about 1.5 inches?

Well i have 225/45 17" Toyo Proxes t1s on Skunk2 coilovers and koni 5 ways. but if u just want springs eibach is good, but i heard they are sometimes uneven that was years ago tho. I had them before no prob. and yes i also advise you to change your shocks. after everything is done get it re-alined(sp?) I don't know about other springs but eibach is cool.

Ryan, if you want the best, get some eibach prokits which will give you around 1.5" drops. Get tokico blue struts (the koni yellows are pretty expensive). And use the 15$ camber mod for the back wheels. You won't need to adjust the front camber with the prokits. Then after installation, wait a week, and get an alignment. You're set!

um just look for something at or better than 220 for the prokits (you can find them for much more at most places), and I've heard only good things about shox.com for struts.
