#11455, "HELP! i've installed my new AGX's"

ok something is fishy...i finally got my AGX's on a few days ago, and for some reason my car feels like it's bouncing too much! i hit the chassis hard pretty much everywhere i go. i checked everything and reinstalled it twice and still the same results. also i even checked my damp settings put it on 1 setting which is the soft one. now what i think is either my strutmount bushing is bad and needs a new one or i need a bumpstop 'cause i removed it when i 1st placed my Eibach sportlines. damn it the KYB GR2's felt better before then these. what the hell!?

I was going to suggest bumpstops. There isn't a limit to the amount of play the struts have without them on. Get some bumpstops and cut 2/3 of them off and see if that dosen't fix the problem. Good luck.

ALso the front AGX shocks have one inch less travel that other brands, so RRE does NOT recommend them for 2g eclipses. You might be bottoming out...

AGXs are only a problem if you are lowered

Are you lowered as well? If so did you cut down the bumpstops?

AGXs suck if you are lowered. KYB tech department will even tell you they were manufactured (fronts) incorrectly. Do yourself a favor. Contact the shop you got them from and get credit towards illuminas or konis. I hope you dealt with summit as they were way cool on this exact issue with me last year. They let me ride on the kybs until the konis arrived then sent a UPS pick up tag. If the shop you got them from gives you a hard time contact KYB, get the confession, and throw the techs name and kyb # in their face and make them call. Just don't take any crap. I know the bounce you speak of all to well...

I had this same problem' i run the agxs with sportline springs with 2 coils removed on the fronts only. I realized i wasnt getting the full shock travel. So to save my self the money and hassle i extended my strut towers about an inch and a half problem solved late mike

I have pics but you really cant tell unless they are out of the car. I am talking about the shock cup(the 3 bolt jobber that sits at the top of the shock and the shock bolts throught the top). I just hole sawwed it out inserted a chromoly tube 1 1/2" and welded it all up. late mike

That just doesn't sound safe. That type of modification just to keep the struts. Sounds like a hassle. I would reccomend trying my route first.

here's my update...

well i tried to do this installation again but this time, i installed new kyb gr2's and a polyurethane bumpstop. well let me just say...can i get a hell yeah!!! this is the freak'n shit! i dropped the AGX's cause it's true about the stem being too long, so i said forget them, i'll get store credit from where i bought them from. anyway i cut the bumpstops like 1 1/2", and i think this is what made the difference. i test drove it, and right off the bat it felt like a new ride. no wobbles, it just feels comfortable. i hit a bad pot hole just to see if it would hit the chassis, and no noises. i was amazed! now i'm like happy again and no more of that slam noise i would get especially with the honeys. i love my sportlines again.

Congrats...

NO ONE get KYB AGX in the fronts if you are lowered. This should be put up somewhere on the 2gnt site.
