Does anyone know the proper way to change the rear rotors and pads on a GS..... Any help would be appreciated...Thanks.

As far as I know, the same way you'd replace the front rotors and pads
Just take the wheel off, unbolt the claiper and the caliper mounting bracket, the rotor should practically fall off, put on a new rotor, lube up the pins holding the caliper in with brake lube (they sell tiny packets of it at autozone and such) compress the pistons a bit with a c-clamp if needed and put everything back together.

thats all it takes to do the rear? I figured it would be more difficult because the rotor itself acts as a friction surface for the drum in disc parking brake.... Let me know what u think.

hmm, forgot about the parking brake with the disks. I don't think it would be too diffucult to do. I can check the shop manual when I get home, unless someone can post about the rear brakes before I do

Two things to remember (that might sound obvious)
1) don't forget to disengage the parking brake
2) have a long 10mm bolt on hand just in case the rotor doesn't come off easy. It will thread in the rotor face to apply a threaded force on the back side.

you mean put the bolt onto one of the wheel studs then use a wrench to hold the disc in place? Ive never replaced the rotors so I havent got a clue how to remove them.

One more question...This may seem dumb, but would it be a bad idea to put powerslots and some kind of performance pads on the rear end of my eclipse... I am asking this because the front discs have brand new "stock" discs and "stock" pads.... Would the improved braking in the back affect brake balance a noticble amount or should I not worry about it? Thanks.

when he says to put a 10 mm bolt back into it.
he means that lots of times (especially on older less maintenced viechels) the rotor will be VERRY difficult if not impossable to remove. so what you do to get them off is:
the rotors have 2 little holes in them that have threads. just thread the 10 mm bolt into the hole in the rotor and it will "pop" the rotor off.
i didn't know about this at first, my rotor was toast any ways and i couldn't get it off with a hammer.... finally realized what the holes are for and got it in a snap.

you should get reduced fade at the least. Since the rotors and pads in the rear have better heat soaking capability. Kinda rare that you'd have to replace the rear pads though, mine don't look like it wears out at all.
Haha you can do what I do and hit the rotor with a rubber mallet haha it worx cept when it really seized in there. Just make sure the parking drum is disengage and it'll come off easy
