I was wondering if hadesomega had done his write up yet?
i have everything i need with the exception of the brake lines. i know that the rotors from the 3000 gt do not use the banjo bolts so my question is. do i go down to napa and get 3000 gt brake lines? i am not sure if the lenght or if the fitting at the fender liner would be the same. does rusell or goodrich make an application for this conversion or what. do the gsx calipers use banjo fittings or the same type as the 3000 gt. i have everything else and raceconcepts definitely has the best deals on rotors $105.00 for gsx front rotors + s&h. you cant beat that and man are the rotors/calipers huge. the sweep is so large that i wonder if we need a diff. proportioning valve. i hope i don't break my nose off from the dive w/ these new brakes. to bad the vr-4 brembos don't fit our cars.
by the way, i have brembo crossdrilled and slotted front rotors that i will want to get rid off in a week or so anyone interested? they have like 5k miles on them. they are direct bolt ons for stock gs/rs and do help quite a bit. no more burnt pads!!!

So, the 2 piston calipers from a GSX won't fit on our stock sized rotors? I thought they would, but the brake pad would hang off a little bit.

i wouldnt try putting the gsx calipers on without the larger sized rotors.. whether that be stock or aftermarket.. i too have been waiting to put on my twin piston calipers, just need to get a few more parts and also get the calipers and brackets powdercoated..

I'm getting my GSX brakes soon too. I got it off a guy on the net for $120 +shipping. It came with the lines and brackets, hopefully it'll bolt right up. It came off a 98 GSX. I have to look for some rotors now...I'm trying to find some used GSX rotors in socal, but if it comes down to it I'll get them raceconcept ones with some pads. Damn $105 is a good price...do they still have em for that price?

mention that you are an asog member or a 2gnt member and you get the discount price. the rotors kick a$$. they are dimpled so they wont crack when you heat them up..

anyone gonna answere my question re. brake lines??? is haydesomega out there? how about the1bill with his comment about the washer on the banjo bolt?? i need help on the brake line issue!!

as far as i know for the gsx brakes they dont have different fittings like the 3000gt ones do. and if you head over to http://www.roadraceengineering.com you can get the ss brake lines cheaper there, but the ones they sell i think are for the gsx/gs/rs brakes.. i think they sell theirs for like 77ish or so.

Haha sorry I haven't done the write-up yet I've been busy with computer problems and stuff. Just spend like 300 bux on rebuild parts today also so I'm kinda bummed. I suggest that if you do get 3000GT SL calipers that you just buy SS lines from RRE. That's where I got mine, your suppose to change them after like 5 years or something anyway. Why not get a set that'll last forever? They're shiny too

Hehe I do know a place that sells rotors at a cheaper price than raceconcepts but they only have fronts. www.rsversion.com sells J-speed rotors for 70 bux that are drilled and slotted (yes they are drilled all the way through) The Drill and slotting pattern isn't as crazy as the raceconcepts rotors though so it about equals out.

Couple days ago I believe I broke the rotors in now the brakes BITE now bwahahaha i love it.

Well I'm getting some rotors from rsversion thing is I need some brake pads. Should I get some metal masters from raceconcepts or get some semimetalics at Autozone. I'm looking for something under $50

go to napa and ask for the ceramic pads, they work great and are warranted for life. they are about 60.00. trust me you will like them.

I just popped some NAPA Ceramix (as noted above) into my bro's GS-T the other day. He tells me they're very solid.

His greatest compliment in regard to the pads though are their ability to NOT dust. He can't believe how little dust are on his rims now as compared to before.

wow ceramic pads eh, lemme know how they hold out I had metal master on my stock brakes and they're awesome. They do dust but not that much, like if your driving your car for 2 weeks not washing it you'll notice the dust. Dust less eh, how do they hold up to stopping at 120MPH though? Do they make em for the rear too?

His post inspired my gs to gsx/3000gt dual piston caliper conversion.
I got it all done last night and as you all know you gotta take it easy for a couple of days to "season" or bed the pads. but i could not resist. after a couple of 60mph to 0mph trial runs i can definitelly attest to the severe improvement in brake performance, and by the way get the ceramic pads from napa. unlike most high performance pads that need to heat up a bit, these grab right from the start. they do however smell a little funny however but if they dust less and continue to work when aboused (as i plan on doing) they are worth their weight in gold (especially since they are warranted for life). by the way if you are using the 3000gt caliper, our brake lines will work. just go down to a very well stocked hardware store and ask for some brass bushings (2 per side) i used metric m 10 machine bushings (like washers only a bit thicker) to make up the difference between the lenght of the banjo bolt and the fitting at the caliper, the bushings are soft so they will seal against themselves. i originally went to jegs to get speed bleeders and some shorter banjo bolts, man when they saw my import they treated me like a f*#cking leper, those guys would not even wait on me at all, i ended up leaving telling the manager that from now on my business is going to summit racing. i wish these guys here in columbus oh. would get with it, here the "if it ain't nascar, it ain't sh*t" attitude is almost too much to deal with. but enough of that, once again this was easily the best 160.00 bucks i ever spent!!

yeah that rear disc conversion is a kick in the ass, lining up the hubs is the hardest part I must say after taking repeated 100 MPH stops I don't have to worry about the brakes fading. In fact I don't think I've faded them yet! I know I will eventually though haha I"ll just have to deal with that.
