#11032, "will back tires rub with 225s and sportline kit"

I just put on my sportline kit on my 98 rs today. I love the way it looks right now. I have heard that these will settle though. Here lies my dilema. I have 225/35/18's on my car. the front has plenty of room yet and i assume may settle more than the back cause of weight. but in the back i only have two finger widths from the tire and since the tires are so wide if it settles it looks like it will rub the side of the wheel well. i was wondering if anyone has the same size tires and sportlines and if so what thier luck was.
thanks

I have 225 45 17's, and i will rub with more people in my car. I have about a 2 finger gap in the rear also, but it doenst rub unless i go over a big ass dip or bump in the road. Haha, it was funny, on the way to the shoot out in Ohio, i had a passenger, and a guy in my back seat, and i was rubbin the whole way there goin over bumps. You can remedy this by rolling the rear fender lip with a baseball bat. Get the bat inbetween the tire and the metal lip and use that to push up the metal lip. You may have to jack up the car to get room to fit the bat in there. This should take care of it. If not, then you might want to get some adjustable struts to stiffen up the rear so you dont have as much deflection of the rear suspension over harsh bumps..

i have the pro kit springs, and had volk se37k 18s = 225/40/18 and they rub in the rear.. so i would assume with the sportline it will rub.. mine only did it when i hit bumps or was on the freeway etc going fast.. so i just rolled it and it was fine..

yes they most likely will rub. and i would suggest 225 40 18 instead. you really don't need a 35 series tire.

thanks for the replies. im going to roll the fenders tomorrow just to be safe. i have only rubbed once and that was flying around a corner(love the way it handles now) and hit a bump. also how long does it take for the springs to fully settle and should i put little slits in the lip before i roll it.

Thanks

notch and roll. Just cut the inner fender in about 6 spots about a inch and half apart and bend each section in. Then paint the cuts to prevent rust. I also cut 2 coils out off the top. So mike tucks in the rear. You might wanna look into getting a camber kit bro late mike

I've got 18" rims with 225/40/18 nittos and I don't have any rub with the sportlines. I also have an Ingalls camber kit on the back too. The springs will settle some. My car is slammed with the sportlines but I always get compliments on how it looks .
