#3770, "got GC coilovers on and having problems(long)...."

A friend and I put my Ground Control coilovers and AGX struts on last night. No problem with that. The problem I'm having is if I'm out on the highway(or anywhere else for that matter) the car bounces like a rubber ball. I don't have the car that low and the front bounces like crazy. I've maxed out the stiffness of the struts on the front(4) and the rear are set on 6 but this sucker bounces around as if I have cut the springs or something. I wanted to know if anyone else was having the same problem. Here are my kit number and spring numbers for the ground controls. For some reason these differ from my friends who also has the same setup on his car.
Kit# 5520.05
front 0700.250.0450
rear GC150.64.53

ANY and all info. would be greatly appreciated.

How low do you have the front? The AGX shocks have a longer shock body by 1/3 of an inch. Just installing AGX and you lose 1/3 inch of travel. Then each inch you lower it and you lose that much more travel. The problem you get with coilovers and AGX is bouncing off of the bumpstops. The car is so low that there is almost no shock travel and you bounce off the bump stops. The only way to help with this is the plate that ground control sells for $100.

LAST EDITED ON 27-Oct-01 AT 06:38 PM (PST)

The front sits maybe a quarter to a half inch higher than what it did when I had my Tokico blues and Eibach Prokit on. I will try raising it higher tomorrow and see what happens.

you could also try trimming the bump-stops.

front 0700.250.0450
rear GC150.64.53

The front spring part number says it is 7" long, 2.5" diameter, and 450 ft-lbs. 450 is a bit stiff for some people (others use 350 or 400), but my Skunk2's are 550, and they are stiff, but not unbearable. I would have to agree with the others that it's probably cus the AGX shock makes you lose a lot of travel up front. Cut your bumpstops in half and raise it up, and see if that helps.

I will try raising it some more today but the bumpstops only have one piece left on it. I already cut the other 2 off.
