First off I want to say that I am fairly new to this forum and this is the first time I've posted. I have been reading posts from this forum for quite a while and have learned alot. You guys rock!

I have a 95 GS with a Howell built short block, ported head, intake, Crane stage 3 turbo cams and HRC stage II turbo and fmic.

I am wanting to upgrade the fuel system (the one I have now sucks).

I was going to go with the Portfueler, but the more that I read on the Megasquirt I belive this is going to be my choice.

I would like to buy one that is prebuilt and with the timing control if possible. MrSlick, I belive said that he sells the units prebuilt. If so could someone tell how to contact him? Or MrSlick if you can please contact me at (jmmcc67@aol.com).

If you guys have any comments on why I should or shouln't go with the Megasquirt I would like to hear them.

better know what your getting into with a standalone engine managment system. didnt know crane made stage 3 turbo cams.

Yeah, Crane makes a turbo gind cam (#14)for the 420a Eclipse.

I know it is pretty intimidating. But I want to learn. About the only way I know how to learn it is by doing it. Along with reading every thing I can on the subject

Yeah he means the 0014's and by 3rd they are the 3rd ones in the line up? i.e. 0010, 0012, 0014?

If your looking for a cheaper alternative than the port fueler theres the EIC route.

If you want to learn everything and do everything, then build a MS. If not then Get it from Mr.Slick , He will provide suppport (right?).

or another route is the 8 injector setup using the 034EFI. a few of us are running that with good results.

USED TO HAVE...Everything you wish you had, and then some...

It's nearly the same thing. The 034EFI and the EIC that HRC sells do almost exactly the same thing, and the both have the same flaw of no intake tempature correction, however, I heard that the 034EFI will be "moddable" sometime next spring to accomidate an IAT sensor. The 034EFI is pretty easy to tune, if you have a wideband. The TechEdge wideband with the new Matrix Analyzer software makes tuning the 034EFI really easy.

I thought about building it. But then agian I would like to know that everything was put together right and working properly. Because I'm going to have enough trouble trying to get the car to run and run right after I install it.

Do you think I could be getting in over my head with the Megasquirt? I have read alot on the Megasquirt website and granted there is alot of I don't understand, but I am hoping that I can figure out enough of it to operate the system. Or am I just dreaming.

The MS can be a little intimidating, all you really need to do is surf http://www.msefi.com for a few days to understand how everything fits together, what you need to buy with the kit, if you need the flyback board that supports really low impedence injectors, etc...

Slick can order the parts, assemble, and test your board for you. Or you can do it yourself. Or, you can order the parts and the board and send it to someone else to assemble it - there are at least half a dozen places that I know of in my area (less than 50 miles) that will assemble PCB's. It depends on how much you want to spend.

http://www.rs-autosport.com/ also sells a lot of cool MS stuff. I bought a harness, a DB37 connector, and the 2 GM sensors from there. They also sell pre-assembled boards. If you decide to order the partial kit, order the rest of the components on your own, and assemble the thing on your own, it will cost somewhere between $150 and $200 for everything that you will need to get a MS doing fuel on a 2GNT.

Bottom line, I'd reccomend the MS. It's a LOT more powerful than the Portfueler, 034EFI, or big injectors + S-FMU + S-AFC. Seldom is the best option the cheapest, but this is the exception to the rule. A lot of people (including myself) have already or are jumping on the MS bandwagon - that means that there will be even more support out there for it. For a 2GNT with a turbo kit, the MS is an excellent option for meeting the fuel requirement.

EDIT: If you're lucky, you may be able to find someone that has a setup similar (like similar cams and similar injectors) to yours, and if you ask them nicely, they may give you their maps. The MS also has a nifty little feature that takes the 0-5 volt output signal from a wideband to tune the car at all times. No more open loop! You tell the MS what the target AFR is at X rpm and Y pounds of boost. Although I haven't played with it at all, I can imagine that it would do wonders to fine tune a car once you find a good base map.

Thanks for the input guys. I think I am going to try the MS, not only that I think it will be the best setup but I think it will be a great way for me to learn more about the way fuel injection operates.
