Hello and thanks for taking the time to look at my post. Its been over 12 years since I had and built my 420A talon i could not even find my old profile here lol. But anyways my wife picked up a 1999 eclipse gs for her first project car and turns out the engine is toast, the wrist pin is digging into the cylinder wall. Figured its a perfect opportunity to do a light turbo build but the machine shops are way behind, my 2J has been in the shop going on 2 years. So taking the 2.4 swap option with srt4 pistons and some low boost. Sadly the stratus engine we got is from the 2nd gen stratus so its the same layout as the PT cruiser and srt4 block with the updated crank sensor and trigger. I'm going megasquirt but my issue is the Automatic transmission. if it was up to me a 5 speed swap would be the fix but she refuses to go with a manual. So I got to piggyback the stock ecu to keep the automatic transmission which is difficult having the wrong crank trigger. I'm thinking of mocking up a external trigger wheel to mimic the stock 420a trigger pattern, and set the stock sensor to that. Unless there's another way to get the Automatic transmission to work with a aftermarket ecu. I don't have much knowledge with autos so any advice helps thanks.

Not really much you can do there. I'd rather find the correct crank than try to make a NGC trigger work.

5-6psi on a stock block with upgraded injectors, Walbro, and an FMU on a stock ECU is still a viable setup.

What's the part number on the ECU? 05293191 ?

Thanks for the reply and I agree it’s going to be easier dealing with the 2.0 420a crank trigger then any other options but would be cool if I could get the new gen 2.4 block we have to work with everything even if there are a few extra hoops to jump through. Sadly I haven’t had much luck finding a 2.0 420a near by for sell at a decent price, the junkyards are asking for $1000+ which seems a little steep to me for a 30 year old engine. I know I’ll have that if not more in building an engine but Atleast it should be fresh.
