I bought my MS used almost a year ago. Its MS2 extra with 2.0.1 firmware. I recently installed the harness with all sensors and splices done. I have the stock ecu running the injectors and coil. When i crank the motor over none of the leds come on and neither when the car is on. I know one suppose to flash when the engine turning over
Heres my problem, when i connect the ms to my laptop I get a pop up saying "The selected communication Port (COM1) Cannot be open. To fix change port and try again." I tried all combinations a nothing happen.
All so i get "MS cannot connect to controller page1-5"
Sorry if this is straight forward enough i don't post much. Any help appreciated.

It sounds like you need to setup your communication settings before you worry about anything else. What adapter are you using? Check http://msextra.com/forums/index.php for available information regarding that side of the house.
I wanted to see if i could monitor the tach and temp gauges on megatune before i went any further. Right Now im not getting and communication from the ms to my laptop.
I'm using the usb to serial adapter that Symtech sales.

Search online or find a computer guru friend that can setup your computer's COM ports so the laptop and Megasquirt unit can communicate before you go further.
