I have tried reading the forums, and i can tell the information is out there... but i am having trouble finding out the answer to my specific question:
I am taking my 99 eclipse rs-t to atlanta in the next week or two to get it tuned. I have megasquirt, but there is a guy up there that can tune it alot better than i can.
I can not find an answer to what part or anything that i need to get the "sparks" aspect of MSNS to be able to be tuned. I have talked to some people and they say i need an "ignitor" off of a first gen.. but even that is vague.
I have trouble figuring out these forums and if someone could send me a nice detailed answer or a link to a simple explanation to all this, it would be greatly appreciated.
Another thing:
Even if i get the part i need to control the spark.. i have NO idea how to wire it up to the car( what to take off, what to splice into, etc.)

Depends on where you got you ECU from. Symtech labs ECUs have internal ignitors in them, so you just hook up power to the coil pack, and run 2 wires from the MS to the coil for cyl 1-4, 2-3, respectively.

First off, you may find this forum a lot easier if you click on "view in linear mode". That will probaly match up our forum to the forums you are used.
As turbobrick said, give us some info on your unit. Is it internal ignitor or externally set-up? Did you buy it new? If so, you should have a spec sheet that you can post up.

i hate to admit it, but i bought the car with NO knowledge of the sparks aspect of megasquirt... or how it is wired. I know how the squirt aspect works and how to adjust it, and thats about it.
I know the guy i bought it from bought his megasquirt stuff pre assembled, but not from a company like symtech labs... just some guy that knew how to put it all together.
idk how to tell if its external or whatever... can anyone just give me a company or a shop i can take my car to and let them just take a look and tell me what needs to be done?
